Jeff Schlup Visits ULMA Victory Lane for the First Time in 2010

California, Missouri’s Jeff Schlup picked up his first ULMA-sanctioned win of the season last week at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri. It was Schlup’s first win of the year at Callaway Raceway, where he won six races last season and the track championship. Schlup now has four starts on the season and has climbed into the overall top fifteen in the standings; last season he finished second in the ULMA championship. Current championship leader Bob Test had a solid run to second place at Callaway, recording his sixth top-five finish in eleven starts this season. Trace Westling continued his strong beginning to the season by coming away with fifth, Danny Lorton, rookie of the year contender Chris Cox, and Robbie Wright also finished inside the top ten at Callaway Raceway last weekend, where there were seven member drivers present among fifteen drivers on hand. Racing resumes this Friday, June 18, visit the track’s official Website at www.callawayraceways.com for detailed information.

ULMA would like to thank all drivers that attended Callaway Raceway last weekend and for taking part in the Homes for Our Troops “Turning Left for our Troops” fundraiser. The association collected $428.53 for Homes for Our Troops, a national non-profit, non-partisan organization founded in 2004 that is strongly committed to helping those who have selflessly given to our country and have returned home with serious disabilities and injuries since September 11, 2001. To contribute to the organization through the ULMA, send donations in the form of check or money order to ULMA, P.O. Box 794, Moberly, Mo, 65270. The next ULMA Turning Left for our Troops fundraiser will take place at Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday, June 26.

Unfortunately, wet and stormy weather continued to plague the rest of the weekend for ULMA competitors last week as both Saturday night track’s were rained-out. ULMA has experienced sixteen rained out events this year at its affiliated tracks but there are still plenty of race nights remaining to determine this year’s championship. Thirty-eight sanctioned race nights remain for drivers to earn points at this season.

Racing will resume at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri this Saturday, June 19. Stay tuned to the speedway’s official website at www.lucasoilspeedway.com for more details about the 2010 season at Lucas Oil Speedway. Central Missouri Speedway in Warrensburg will also resume its racing this Saturday, June 19. You may find CMS on the web by logging onto www.centralmissourispeedway.net.
