Davenport Speedway Kids Club announces schedule for Dunk Tank on Friday

DAVENPORT, Ia. (July 14, 2010) – The Davenport Speedway Kid’s Club will be raising money for a very special cause during the stock car racing program at the Davenport Speedway this Friday, July 16th. The Kid’s Club is sponsoring a dunk tank to raise money for Karsyn’s Krusaders.

Karsyn’s Krusaders is an organization committed to “Kickin’ Cancer’s Butt One Lap at a Time”. The mission of the organization is to create awareness and fundraising initiatives within the racing community to further the efforts of non- profit organizations which help positively impact the lives of individuals who have been affected by cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, with emphasis on childhood cancer.

Friday night will be very special for Karsyn’s Krusaders. After the devastating loss of a 13 year-old friend, Sergio, the board has voted to allow his family to direct where the funds are used in the Karsyn’s Krusaders’ mission.

Sergio, was an amazing boy. He “kicked cancer’s butt” twice, but his life was taken by an infection on Sunday. Sergio is one of our own Quad City area HEROES.

This Friday make plans to attend Karsyn’s Krusaders Night at Davenport Speedway. Let’s see how much money we can raise to help out this wonderful organization and “Kick Cancer’s Butt One Lap at a Time.” Local drivers have signed up to sit in the dunk tank to help raise money. The driver who raises the most money will also receive a prize.

The dunk tank will be open most the night, starting at 5:15pm. A list of times and drivers will be posted to keep the fans informed of who is in the tank. Ten drivers are currently signed up and the Davenport Speedway Kids Club is hoping more will stop by the Dunk Tank if they have extra time to help out and take a turn.

Karsyn’s Krusaders will be on hand to help out throughout the night. They will have merchandise for sale, and will assist with presenting trophies.

Pit gates at Davenport open at 4 p.m. and the grandstand opens at 5pm. Hot laps are at 6pm and racing starts at 6:30pm. The Davenport Speedway is located at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, on West Locust Street, in Davenport.
