FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 27, 2010
The Carolina Clash is heading to Fayetteville Motor Speedway, Saturday, July 31
By: Alex Cummings Wingate, NC. July 26, 2010. The Carolina Clash and Fayetteville Motor Speedway have announced a schedule change that will be taking place next Saturday, July 31st at Fayetteville. The original Fayetteville date of August 14th has been rescheduled to July 31st. “The July 31st date is a good date for the Carolina Clash because no other super late model series is racing that day within 500 miles of Fayetteville” said Marion Limbaugh Carolina Clash Event Coordinator.
The last trip the Carolina Clash made to Fayetteville saw Jordan Bland taking home the $4,000 to win feature event. The win was a career first for Bland in the Carolina Clash SLMS. Michael Marlowe was able to advance the most positions and win the Safety Kleen Hard Charger Award.
Dean Bowen was also able to capture the checkered flag in early April during the Carolina Clash’s first trip to Fayetteville this season which was his 2nd victory of the season. Travis Hair was able to advance the most positions and win the Safety Kleen Hard Charger Award.
The last event for the Carolina Clash was on June 26th at Dublin Speedway in which Luke Roffers took home his first career Carolina Clash win. It was a much deserved win and Luke has been making strides every race to gaining that first career win and all the hard work paid off that night.
The current Carolina Clash point standings have Dennis Franklin sitting on top with 1235 points. Franklin is also coming off of a great week with the Ray Cook Southern Nationals in which he won at Carolina Speedway on Tuesday night and finished in a close second behind Casey Roberts at Cherokee Speedway on Thursday night. Franklin also won the NDRA Road Show Event held at Lancaster Speedway Saturday night. Franklin has been on a hot streak like no other and he hopes that his recent momentum will carry over into the July 31st race at Fayetteville.
Running in 2nd is Ricky Weeks who is trailing Franklin by just 63 points and Dean Bowen is trailing Franklin by just 65 points in 3rd which is the difference between 1st and 15th in a race. With the points being that close, anyone of these three drivers can come out of Fayetteville with the points lead. Dean Bowen is also leading the Rookie of The Year.
Jay Sessoms is running 4th and is currently 2nd in Rookie of The Year points followed closely by Chris Ferguson who trails Sessoms by just 31 points. With both of these tight point battles, there could be a lot of position changing in the Carolina Clash points.
This season, Comp Cams is the feature winner sponsor, awarding the feature winner a $100 gift certificate. Also on board for 2010 is Safety Kleen who will be awarding the Safety Kleen Hard Charger of the Race Award which will be a prize pack consisting of various products from Safety Kleen. R2C Performance is the official heat race sponsor, awarding each heat race winner with a gift certificate towards a purchase at R2C Performance. Lincoln Electric is also onboard with the Carolina Clash this season and will be giving all Carolina Clash drivers a discount on all of their products. Shafer Enterprises Cool Shirts will be awarding a gift certificate to the 5th place finisher in the feature event to a purchase at Cool Shirts.
Along with the Carolina Clash, Fayetteville Motor Speedway has announced a full racing card for the night including the always entertaining late models and open wheel modifieds. Also on the racing card for Saturday night will be the fast super street, pure stock, the always affordable u-cars, and the winged 270 sprints. Pit gates open at 3pm and grandstands open at 4pm. Make sure to get there early to reserve your seat for this spectacular night of racing as Fayetteville always provides one of the best races you will ever see. Carolina Clash drivers meeting will be taking place at 6:15pm sharp.
