Ponderosa Speedway Off August 27; Indiana Late Model Series Returns on September 3/$1,000 to win UMP SportsmanJunction City, KY- August 23, 2010- Ponderosa Speedway will take coming Friday August 27, but track promoters Donnie Sullivan and family will again present racing action at “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” on Friday September 3 as the Indiana Late Model Series will visit for the third time this season and will be in action for $1,000 to win at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval located on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, as well as an added $1,000 to win event for the D&D Pallet Recyclers UMP Sportsman.
On Friday September 3, the Indiana Pro Late Model Series will present a full program of practice, time trials, heat races, B-Mains, and the 30 lap, $1,000 Pro Late Model A-Main event. The D&D Pallet Recyclers UMP Sportsman division will also have extra money up for grabs, paying $1,000 to win on September 3 with the same rules package in place as it was on August 20. Also in action on September 3 will be the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models ($1,000 to win) and Clayton Homes UMP Modifieds ($600 to win) in weekly racing series action, along with a guest appearance by the Street Stocks ($150 to win) and Front Wheel Drive ($75 to win) divisions.
Activities for the September 3 event will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m., with the general admission open at 5:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 7:00 p.m., with practice set for 7:15 p.m. Time trials will go at 7:45 p.m., with racing set for the green flag at 8:30 p.m. Ticket prices for the September 3 event in the general admission area will be $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 6 to 12, and children under age 6 will be free. A pit pass will be $25.
Ponderosa Speedway last raced on Friday August 20 and feature event winners included Randy Petro of Columbus, IN in D&D Pallet Recyclers UMP Sportsman, Michael Chilton of Salvisa, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, Michael England of Glasgow, KY in Clayton Homes UMP Modifieds, and Todd Coffman of Junction City, KY in Bob Allen Motor Mall Pro Late Models.
Current track championship point leaders heading into the Friday September 3 event are David Webb of Nicholasville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, Jeremy Hines of Seymour, IN in Bob Allen Motor Mall Pro Late Models, J.T. Ayers in Clayton Homes UMP Modifieds, and Rick King of Junction City, KY in D&D Pallet Recyclers UMP Sportsman.
