TRIPLE 20's JIMMY MOWRY MEMORIAL RACE THIS SATURDAY NIGHT AT CLEVELAND SPEEDWAYCleveland, TN (9/17/10) --- The Jimmy Mowry Memorial Triple-20's event is scheduled for Cleveland Speedway for the Super Late Models this Saturday night, August 18th. The special three-race format, will top the racing card and will see a possible $4,000 to-WIN payout. The first two SLM 20 lappers pay $1,000 to-WIN with the final 20 lap feature paying $1,500 to-WIN. A bonus $500 is being offered to any racer winning all three events.
"We are trying to come up with race programs that will reward the drivers and give the fans a little something extra," said Cleveland Speedway owner and promoter Monty Morrow. "The Triple-20's race format is a great way to create excitement both in the pits and the grandstands without costing anyone an arm and a leg."
For this event SLM's will follow the S.R.R.S tire rules (
www.southernregionalracingseries.com) which allow both brands of specific tires. East Ridge, Tennessee racer Todd Morrow is leading the contingent of SLM racers as the current points leader for the 2010 track championship. The veteran Rick Hixson, trails Morrow in the standings along with the Standridge Bros. and the Chastain Bros. Ooltewah's Riley Hickman recently pocketed a cool $2,400 payday from Cleveland Speedway and seems to be the new BRUTE SQUAD of area racers. Rick Rogers, Jake Knowles, Bo Shirley, John Owenby and 1999 S.A.S Champion Jamie Perry are all expected (along with many others) to have their game faces on, ready to smash the loud pedal Saturday night.
All SLM's will qualify, per the norm, with 2 laps each, for the Triple-20's format. The top-16 fastest will be locked in, if more than a full field of racers sign-in for the event. Last chance B-Main Consi's will fill the field for the first 20-lap feature. The winner of the first feature will draw an invert of either four, six or eight to determine the inversion of the second 20-lap feature. Drivers will receive points for their finishes in the first two features, that will determine the starting order in the 3rd and final race.
Drivers must use the same car in all three features. Drivers must let a track official know if they were unable to continue after the first and second features. If a driver is scratched after the first feature an alternate, selected from the consi finishes, would be named for the remaining features. The LLM/Crate, A&B Hobby and Pony divisions will also be in competition. Pit Gates will open at 5PM and the Grandstands at 5:30PM with drivers meeting at 7:30pm. Adult grandstand tickets are $15, kids 11 are free and under six are free. The pits will be $30.
