Quincy Raceways Postpones Sprint Invaders from Sept. 19 to Sept. 26

Quincy Raceways in conjunction with the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders have made the very hard decision to postpone the Selby Implement Company, Noxin Trucking Night at the Races scheduled for Sunday, September 19 to Sunday, September 26. Both the Sprint Invaders governing board and Quincy Raceways ownership felt that with the rain forced rescheduling of the Pepsi USA Nationals at Burlington’s 34 Raceways to Sept. 19 that it would be in the best interest of the fans, race track and the racers to reschedule the September 19 event at Quincy Raceways to Sunday, September 26.

The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders portion of the Quincy Raceways event will now become an open 360 Sprint Car non point’s event under the sanction of the Sprint Invaders. The rest of the events on the schedule for Quincy Raceways for Sept. 19 will also be ran on the 26th as well with the Budweiser Late Model Shootout featuring IMCA Late Models, UMP Pro Crate Late Models and the ULMA Late Models on tap as well as the Miller LIte UMP Modifieds, Triple R Performance Engines IMCA Stock Cars and the Tim’s Machine Shop Hobby Stocks.

The Late Models will race for $1000 to Win, $175 to Start with 15 or more cars entered or $700 to Win, $150 to Start with 14 or less cars entered. The event rules have been posted at the Quincy Raceways website, www.quincyraceways.com. The Modifieds will race for $500 to win and UMP State, Region and National Points, the IMCA Stock Cars for $400 to win and the Hobby Stocks $250 to win.

PLEASE IGNORE THE PRESS RELEASE FROM QUINCY RACEWAYS DATED ON SEPTEMBER 18, 2010 CONCERNING THE RESCHEDULING OF THE SPRINT INVADERS TO SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 26. THAT RELEASE WAS SENT AT 4:15PM

Pepsi USA Nationals Deery rained out again

WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (Sept. 19) – Sunday’s rescheduled Pepsi USA Nationals Deery Brothers Summer Series show at 34 Raceway has met the same fate as the program originally planned for Saturday.

Rain, standing water and less than ideal track conditions combined to force cancellation of what was to have been the final event of the 2010 tour for IMCA Late Models. Jason Frankel had won the first qualifying heat and pole start for the main event, and T.J. Criss won the J & J Steel Ironman Challenge on Friday.

Track officials will contact participating drivers this week. Fans who purchased two night passes can mail them to 34 Raceway, at PO Box 85 in West Burlington, Iowa, 52655 to get a refund for the second night.

Ray Guss Jr. of Milan, Ill., wrapped up the series championship with his Sept. 6 win at Boone Speedway during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals. Andy Eckrich of Iowa City is the series rookie of the year.

The 24th annual tour drew a total of 625 entries for 15 completed events. The resulting 41.67 average is the third highest in series history, behind only the 42.33 mark set in 2000 and the 41.81 average in 2006.

Drivers finishing in the top 15 earn shares of a $20,400 point fund.

Deery Brothers Summer Series top 15 point standings – 1. Ray Guss Jr., Milan, Ill., 717; 2. Jeff Aikey, Waterloo, 625; 3. Andy Eckrich, Iowa City, 622; 4. Terry Neal, Ely, 594; 5.
