FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September 19, 2010
Pepsi USA Nationals Deery rained out again WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (Sept. 19) – Sunday’s rescheduled Pepsi USA Nationals Deery Brothers Summer Series show at 34 Raceway has met the same fate as the program originally planned for Saturday. Rain, standing water and less than ideal track conditions combined to force cancellation of what was to have been the final event of the 2010 tour for IMCA Late Models. Jason Frankel had won the first qualifying heat and pole start for the main event, and T.J. Criss won the J & J Steel Ironman Challenge on Friday. Track officials will contact participating drivers this week. Fans who purchased two night passes can mail them to 34 Raceway, at PO Box 85 in West Burlington, Iowa, 52655 to get a refund for the second night. Ray Guss Jr. of Milan, Ill., wrapped up the series championship with his Sept. 6 win at Boone Speedway during the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals. Andy Eckrich of Iowa City is the series rookie of the year. The 24th annual tour drew a total of 625 entries for 15 completed events. The resulting 41.67 average is the third highest in series history, behind only the 42.33 mark set in 2000 and the 41.81 average in 2006. Drivers finishing in the top 15 earn shares of a $20,400 point fund. Deery Brothers Summer Series top 15 point standings – 1. Ray Guss Jr., Milan, Ill., 717; 2. Jeff Aikey, Waterloo, 625; 3.
