Natural Bridge Speedway’s Sunoco Fall Classic enters its 5th year with an increased payoutThere are seven internationally known “Wonders of the World” and located in Central Virginia right off of Interstate 81 is one of the most amazing of the seven. The Natural Bridge has intrigued visitors for centuries with its history & beauty. Each fall though, as the leaves turn and the heat of the summer’s humidity has disappeared there is an event that overshadows the historic attraction for one weekend in October. The event is the Sunoco Fall Classic that takes place at Larry & Karey Ramsey’s beautiful Natural Bridge Speedway.
The 5th edition of the Fall Classic will take the green on Friday & Saturday October 1st & 2nd. The weekend showcases some of the best side by side racing, featuring three of the area’s top divisions. The Super Late Models once again headline the event, racing for an increased purse of $8,000 to win. The start money has also been increased and will pay a minimum of $750 to take the green in the feature. There is an open tire rule in effect for this event. The Super Late Models also will see $1,000 in total bonus money given out over the course of the weekend. $250 will be awarded to the driver who sets fast time in Friday’s qualifying. There will also be $250 awards given out to the winner of Saturday’s Super Late Model dash, the feature hard charger & the driver who has traveled the farthest to race in the Fall Classic (To be determined by entry form & MapQuest). Many of the region’s top Super Late Model drivers are expected to be in attendance. Early entry forms have been received from 2010 World 100 Fast Timer Austin Dillon, West Virginia’s Steve Shaver and 2 time Fall Classic champion Booper Bare.
Also in action for weekend are the Steel Block Late Models and the Sportsman stock cars. The Popular Steel Block Late Models will be racing for $1,500 to win. There is an open tire rule in effect for this race. A great mixture of Natural Bridge regulars, Steel Block Bandit and Steel Block Mafia drivers are expected to make up the starting field for the 40 lap feature. 2009 winner Walker Arthur and current Steel Block Bandit point leader is expected to be on hand to defend his title. The ever exciting Sportsman will also be on hand to battle for $500 to win in their 30 lap feature. All Natural Bridge and Eastside Speedway Sportsman rules will be in effect for this class.
