Ponderosa Speedway Presents 4th Annual Friday Night Rumble/20th Annual Fall Classic on October 1 and October 2

Junction City, KY-September 23, 2010- Ponderosa Speedway is set to present its biggest racing event of the 2010 racing season with a Friday October 1 and Saturday October 2 doubleheader at “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” with the 4th Annual Friday Night Rumble on October 1 and the 20th anniversary running of the Fall Classic on Saturday October 2.

The Friday October 1 event will be the 4th Annual Friday Night Rumble, with the National All Star Racing Association (NASRA) sanctioning the Super Late Models in a 30 lap, $2,000 to win event. The Clayton Homes UMP Modifieds will also be in action with a 25 lap, $1,000 to win A-Main. The Bob Allen Motor Mall Pro Late Model division will be in competition in the Colston Paving 25, paying $1,000 to win for the crate-powered Late Models. Completing the Friday night portion of the racing program will be the Street Stocks, racing 15 laps for $200 to win, and Front Wheel Drives, racing 10 laps for $100 to win. The Super Late Model, UMP Modified, and Pro Late Model divisions will time trial, while the Street Stocks and Front Wheel Drives will pill draw for heat race starting assignments. There will also be free overnight camping available to race teams and spectators.

The Saturday October 2 event will feature the 20th anniversary edition of the Fall Classic, which will feature sanctioning from the National All Star Racing Association (NASRA) in a 50 lap, $5,000 to win event will also the NASRA series points finale. The Clayton Homes UMP Modifieds will again be in action in a 25 lap, $1,000 to win main event. The D&D Pallet Recyclers UMP Sportsman will be in action at the Fall Classic in the Hensley Ag Center Outlaw 25, paying $2,500 to win. The Street Stocks will race for $250 to win in a 20 lap main event and the Front Wheel Drives will race 15 laps for $150 to win. The Super Late Model, UMP Modified, and UMP Sportsman division will time trial, while the Street Stocks and Front Wheel Drives will pill draw for heat race starting assignments.

Activities on October 1 will see the pit area open at 4:00 p.m., with the general admission area open at 5:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 7:00 p.m., with practice set to begin at 7:15 p.m. Time trials will go around 7:45 p.m., with racing set to take the green flag at 8:30 p.m. Ticket prices for October 1 in general admission will be $15 for adults, $10 for children ages 6 to 12 and children under age 6 will be free, and a pit pass will be $30.

Activities on October 2 will see the pit area open at 3:00 p.m., with the general admission area open at 4:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 6:30 p.m., with practice set for 6:45 p.m. Time trials will go around 7:15, with racing set for the green flag at 8:00 p.m. Ticket prices for October 2 in general admission will be $20 for adults, $10 for children ages 6 to 12 and children under age 6 will be free, and a pit pass will be $35.

The Friday Night Rumble event was added to the Ponderosa Speedway schedule in 2007 and Jason Keltner of Campbellsville, KY would win that inaugural event for Super Late Models and would repeat his victory in the event in 2008. Another Campbellsville, KY native, Jordan Bland, would snag the event win in 2009 and is the defending champion of the race.

The Fall Classic first appeared on the Ponderosa Speedway docket back in 1990 and Steve Francis of Ashland, KY would win the first-ever Fall Classic event. The late Jack Boggs of Grayson, KY would win back-to-back Fall Classic events in 1991 and 1992, while the event was rained out in 1993. Darrell Lanigan of Union, KY was the race winner in 1994, while Mike Jewell of Scottsburg, IN would lay claim to the event title in 1995. Legendary chassis builder C.J. Rayburn of Whiteland, IN would win the event in 1996, while fellow Hoosier state native Don O’Neal of Martinsville, IN would score back-to-back wins in the 1997 and 1998 Fall Classic races. Darrell Lanigan would become the third two-time winner of the race with his victory in 1999, while Joey Daniel of Liberty, KY would score his biggest career win to date with the Fall Classic checkered flag in 2000. Steve Barnett of Franklin, IN would take the race victory in 2001, while the event would not be contested in 2002, but return in 2003 with Johnny Wheeler of Campbellsville, KY scoring his only Fall Classic win to date. Bobby Wolter, Jr. of Lexington, KY would claim his biggest career win to date with the checkered flag in the 2004 race, while Chris Combs of Isom, KY would be the victor of the Fall Classic in 2005. Aaron Hatton of Mount Sterling, KY would grab a popular Fall Classic victory in 2006, while Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY would take the checkered flag in the 2007 race. Greg Johnson of Bedford, IN would turn in a dominant performance to win the 2008 race, while Mike Marlar of Winfield, TN would charge his way to the front to win the 2009 Fall Classic and is the defending race champion.
