Mother Nature Wins Season Championship/Fan Appreciation Night at Ponderosa SpeedwayJunction City, KY-September 24, 2010- With race cars and race fans already on the grounds, rain began falling around 6:45 p.m. and would not let up, forcing Ponderosa Speedway to have to cancel the scheduled Season Championship/Fan Appreciation Night festivities. Track promoters Donnie and Angie Sullivan and son Donnie, Jr. sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused by the rainout cancellation.
For those patrons that purchased tickets or pit passes on September 24, please retain those and present them this Friday night at the 4th Annual Friday Night Rumble event. All patrons will have to do is present their ticket or pit pass as proof they were in attendance and then pay the difference in admission prices.
The rainout event also concluded the track points for the 2010 race season and the following racers are 2010 Ponderosa Speedway track champions in their respective divisions: David Webb of Nicholasville, KY in Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Models, Jeremy Hines of Seymour, IN in Bob Allen Motor Mall Pro Late Models, J.T. Ayers of New Haven, KY in Clayton Homes UMP Modifieds, and Rick King of Junction City, KY in D&D Pallet Recyclers UMP Sportsman.
The next events on the Ponderosa Speedway will be a Friday-Saturday doubleheader of racing action that will take place on Friday October 1 (4th Annual Friday Night Rumble) and Saturday October 2 (20th Annual Fall Classic) featuring the National All Star Racing Association Super Late Models.
The Friday October 1 event will be the 4th Annual Friday Night Rumble, with the National All Star Racing Association (NASRA) sanctioning the Super Late Models in a 30 lap, $2,000 to win event. The Clayton Homes UMP Modifieds will also be in action with a 25 lap, $1,000 to win A-Main. The Bob Allen Motor Mall Pro Late Model division will be in competition in the Colston Paving 25, paying $1,000 to win for the crate-powered Late Models. Completing the Friday night portion of the racing program will be the Street Stocks, racing 15 laps for $200 to win, and Front Wheel Drives, racing 10 laps for $100 to win. There will also be free overnight camping available to race teams and spectators.
The Saturday October 2 event will feature the 20th anniversary edition of the Fall Classic, which will feature sanctioning from the National All Star Racing Association (NASRA) in a 50 lap, $5,000 to win event will also the NASRA series points finale. The Clayton Homes UMP Modifieds will again be in action in a 25 lap, $1,000 to win main event. The D&D Pallet Recyclers UMP Sportsman will be in action at the Fall Classic in the Hensley Ag Center Outlaw 25, paying $2,500 to win. The Street Stocks will race for $250 to win in a 20 lap main event and the Front Wheel Drives will race 15 laps for $150 to win.
Ponderosa Speedway is located just off of 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY.
