KEN SCHRADER TO DO DOUBLE DUTY AT UMP NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

ROSSBURG, OH (Oct. 5) – NASCAR Cup veteran Kenny Schrader, who has become known among the fraternity as a racer’s racer, has signed up to compete in this weekend’s (Oct. 8 & 9) UMP (United Midwestern Promoters) National Championshp event at Eldora Speedway, where he will race his Modified and Late Model entries.

Schrader earned his racing reputation by his willingness to drive just about anything that has three pedals and a steering wheel – dirt or asphalt – with track size having no bearing on his desire to race.

The popular Fenton, MO driver has been known to compete in 100 races or more per season, even when competing full-time on the rugged NASCAR schedule. He has since scaled back his efforts, but the burning desire to chase the checkered flag remains.

He has turned many laps at Eldora Speedway, and with four previous Eldora victories to his credit, will be a bona fide contender against the UMP regulars. Schrader’s Eldora wins include a UMP Modified victory in 2007, along with earlier USAC (United States Auto Club) wins in the Midget (2) and Silver Crown (1) divisions.

Schrader, with four NASCAR Cup wins on his resume, has been a regular competitor in Eldora’s annual Prelude to the Dream charity race, so has plenty of experience on the notorious one-half mile clay oval.

The weekend’s activities will kick off Friday evening with practice and time trial sessions for each division, followed by the preliminary heat race action for the Modifieds and Race of Champions in each division.

Saturday’s plate will include the Late Model heat races just prior to the consolation and featured events for the Modifieds and Late Models. The weekend will serve as the final stop on UMP’s robust season, with the cumulative points champions to be determined and announced. Eldora’s Late Model points race will also come to a close with this event.
