FASTRAK LATE MODELS RETURN TO WEST VIRGINIA MOTOR SPEEDWAY FOR ANOTHER $10,000 TO-WIN EVENT; 1ST TIME EVER WITH DIRT TRACK WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP

By Mike Leone
Mineral Wells, WV…The FASTRAK Late Model Racing Series is set to host another National Event this Saturday, October 16 when the West Virginia Motor Speedway plays host to the prestigious 30th annual Dirt Track World Championship. FASTRAK will run a complete one-day program on Saturday at the huge 5/8-mile speed plant located just south of Parkersburg in Mineral Wells. It’ll be the final night of points for the new Mid-Ohio Valley Touring Series.

For the first time in history, the FASTRAK Late Models will be part of this event competing for a huge $10,000 payday amongst the $27,900 feature payoff! A large field of the top FASTRAK competitors in the country is expected from all over the Northeast, Mid-Ohio Valley, and Southern Regions. “What an honor,” said FASTRAK Series Founder Stan Lester. “I appreciate Carl Short inviting us to participate in the weekend. It’s the perfect venue to show fans how competitive these cars really are.”

“I appreciate what FASTRAK has done for dirt Late Model racing,” stated DTWC Founder Carl Short. “A lot of people have set out over the years to reduce the cost of racing, but FASTRAK has accomplished it and done so successfully. I really look forward to seeing these teams race during the Dirt Track World Championship weekend. I think some of the fans are really going to be surprised how competitive they are. They were at WVMS in July, and from what I heard put on one heck of a show!”

Gary Knollinger of Wheeling, West Virginia holds just a five-point lead over Mike Pegher, Jr. in the inaugural Mid-Ohio Valley Touring Series season. Knollinger finished fourth in the Northeast Touring Series points where he won his first career Touring Series event at Sharon Speedway.

Pegher of Wexford, Pa. is coming off a victory last Friday night in the Northeast Touring Series finale at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex. Pegher led that Series with five victories where he finished runner-up in points. Pegher won the last MOV event held at WVMS on September 2. Pegher also won the $5,000 National Event at Eldora Speedway as his seven Touring/National wins in 2010 total a whopping $17,000!

Jonathan Davenport of Cowpens, South Carolina won the other FASTRAK National Event held at WVMS back on July 10, which was also worth $10,000 in the MOV/Northeast co-sanctioned clash. Other MOV winners this season include Max Blair, Mike Blose, and Dusty Hamrick at Tyler County Speedway’s events.

An open practice will be held on Friday night. The entire FASTRAK portion of the weekend will run on Saturday- the same day as the Super Late Models B Mains and $50,000 to-win feature. THE FASTRAK EVENT IS OPEN TO ALL TEAMS! You do not have to be a member of FASTRAK to race. The FASTRAK complete rule package will be in place for the event. RACEceivers are mandatory at all events. Any tech questions, call Brad Hibbard at 330-540-RACE.
