7th Annual Cotton Pickin’ 100 Just Two Weeks Away

Columbus, Mississippi (10/14/10) The 7th Annual Cotton Pickin’ 100 at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi will be held on Thursday-Saturday, October 28th-30th, 2010. Competitors from across the nation will converge on the gumbo oval in an effort to tame the famed “Black Ice” for a share of the thousands of dollars in posted prize money.

The 2010 Cotton Pickin’ 100 will be headlined by a $15,000 to win/$1,000 to start, 100 lap Super Late Model event. Billy Moyer claimed the Cotton Pickin’ 100 title in 2009 and will be back to attempt a repeat performance in 2010. He will face a field of competitors that includes many of the nation’s best drivers.

Super Late Model competitors should note that they have until Friday, October 23rd, 2010 to file an early entry for $100. After this date, the entry fee will be $150. Competitors must file an early entry by mailing a check to Magnolia Motor Speedway, Highway 45 South, Columbus, MS 39701.

Crate Late Models will also be in action as they battle for $2,500 to win/$150 to start during the course of the event. The Street Stock division will be headlined by a $1,000 to win/$75 to start program.

The Open Wheel Modified division will be in action on Saturday night only and will battle for $700 to win, while the Mini Stock division will also contest a complete show on Saturday night for $300 to win.

Open practice begins Thursday night, October 28th at 7:00 PM for all divisions. Friday night will see preliminary action for the 7th Annual Cotton Pickin’ 100 as Super Late Models qualify and run heat races as they attempt to make the feature field. Crate Late Models will also qualify and run heat races. Street Stocks will also run their heats.

B-Mains for all divisions will be contested on Saturday night along with the 7th Annual Cotton Pickin’ 100 Championships. A complete program for the Open Wheel Modified division and the Mini Stock division will be held on Saturday night.

7th Annual Southern Belle Cotton Pickin’ 100 This Weekend

Columbus, Mississippi (10/26/10) The 7th Annual Southern Belle Cotton Pickin’ 100 at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi will come to life this Thursday-Saturday, October 28th-30th, 2010.

The 2010 Southern Belle Cotton Pickin’ 100 will be headlined by a $15,000 to win/$1,000 to start, 100 lap Super Late Model event. Billy Moyer, who is a three time Southern Belle Cotton Pickin’ 100 Champion, last claimed the Southern Belle Cotton Pickin’ 100 title in 2009 and will be back to attempt a repeat performance in 2010. Moyer will face a field of competitors that includes many of the nation’s best drivers including former event champions Scott Bloomquist and Jason Cliburn PLUS Brian Birkhofer, Jimmy Mars, Mike Marlar, Clint Smith, Ray Cook, Bub McCool, Chris Wall, Neil Baggett, Rick Rickman, Jack Sullivan, Dennis Erb Jr., Brian Rickman, Kyle Beard, Billy Moyer Jr., Chad Thrash, David Breazeale, Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, Dane Dacus, Jonathan Davenport, and many more of the top drivers from across the region and the nation. All super Late Models will be required to run 8” spoilers, and tires must punch a minimum hardness of 40 at all times.

Transponders and Raceceivers will be required for the Super Late Model, Crate Late Model, and Street Stock divisions and will be available for rental at the track.

On Saturday afternoon starting at noon a cookout will be held at the track featuring southern fried fish, chicken, and all the trimmings. The cookout is open to racers and fans, and donations will be accepted to benefit the Alan East Racer’s Fund, which is a benevolent fund for racers, pit crews, and their families. In addition to the cookout, a silent auction will begin on Friday and will end on Saturday with door panels and other souvenirs on the auction block. All proceeds will go to the Alan East Racer’s Fund.
