Springfield Raceway Announces Information On Season Ending Turkey Classic

Springfield, Mo.-The 2010 racing season will officially end on Sat November 27th with the running of the popular Turkey Classic. Last season this event drew over 160 plus race teams to the quick-quarter under perfect weather conditions as Late Models, A-Mods, B-Mods and Legends were involved. Ken Essary (Late Models), Steve Martin (A-Mods), Billy Street (B-Mods) and Dave Bauer (Legends) took home the honors over star-studded fields.

The Pit gate will open at 10AM with the drivers meeting at 1PM. Hotlaps start at 1:30 and Racing begins around 2:30. Draw for heats will end at 1:15 and any cars later than that will not receive any passing points.Passing points will help set the feature line-ups with the top 8 in each class redrawing for their starting spots. PitPasses will be $35.

The Grandstands will open at Noon and Adult Admission will be $15.

This season Late Models, A-Mods, B-Mods, and Legends will again headline the popular November event. Late Models will run under the MARS/MLRA Rules with Hoosier WRS D55 the only tire allowed. Show-Me Racin Series legal cars may run a 10 inch spoiler and a 100 weight break while battling for the $2,000 to win/$275 to start feature. Late Model entry fee will be $80 and drivers not advancing to the A feature from the last chance races will receive $80.

The High-horsepower of the A-mods will see drivers battle for the $1,000 to win/$200 to start feature. USRA Rules along with Springfield Raceway rules will apply. Drivers may run either the American Racer KK704 or Hoosier IMCA Stamped G60.No mixing of tire must be the same on all four corners. A mods entry fee will be $40 while drivers who don't advance into the A Main through the last chance races will receive $60.

SportMods or B-Mods will attempt to grab the $400 to win/$70 to start main event. Springfield Raceway rules apply along with IMCA Northern Sport Mods or IMCA Southern SportMods.No spoilers allowed in the B-Mod class.Tires are American Racer KK704 or Hoosier Stamped IMCA G60. No mixing, same on all four corners.SportMods entry fee will be $20 while drivers who do not advance through the last chance races take home $40.

Legends Cars take to the track in the $300 to win and $35 to start feature while no entry fee is charged to this class.

Springfield Raceway Amends Late Model Tire Rule For Turkey Classic/25 Loads Of New Dirt On Track

Springfield, Mo.-Officials at the Springfield Raceway have announced the for the Upcoming Turkey Classic on Sat November 27th that Late Model drivers will be allowed to run either the Hoosier WRS D55 Tire or the Hoosier LM 40 Tire in the $2,000 to win/275 to start feature event.

Last season was the first year that Late Models were added to the popular After Thanksgiving Weekend event as over 40 LM teams and a total of over 160 race teams in 4 classes competed under perfect weather conditions. National Dirt Hall of Famer Ken Essary put his name in the record books as winning the first Late Model Turkey classic event by holding off repeated charges by Justin Wells in grabbing the win.

In other news from Springfield Raceway, over 25 loads of new dirt has been put down and the track will hold an open practice session this Sat November 6th to help work it in. This practice is open to any type of circle track oval car and pit passes will be $20 with practice running from around 1PM till 3 PM.

The running of the Turkey classic will feature Late Models (MARS/MLRA Rules with Show-Me Series Spec legal cars receiving a bigger spoiler and a 100 Lbs weight break), A-Mods, Sport Mods and Legend Cars. Action will find Hot laps starting at 1:30 for the Turkey Classic and Racing around 2:30.
