FASTRAK GOES INTERNATIONAL! CANADA’S HUMBERSTONE SPEEDWAY TO RUN FASTRAK LATE MODELS WEEKLY IN 2011By Mike Leone
(Pulaski, PA)…The FASTRAK Racing Series has made a lot of strides over its seven-year history. Record-setting payoffs, record car counts, and phenomenal growth have become the norm in recent years; however, with the eighth season quickly drawing near FASTRAK is thrilled to announce it’s going international! That’s right…the New Humberstone Speedway in Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada will become the first FASTRAK-sanctioned speedway outside of the United States!
Humberstone will run the Late Model division on a weekly basis for the upcoming 2011 season primarily on Friday nights with a select number of Sunday shows also planned. The announcement was made by general manager Bob Davidson. Humberstone is located only 20 miles west of Buffalo, New York and joins the strong list of Northeast speedways under the FASTRAK banner.
“We received a call about a month ago from Mr. Davidson inquiring about FASTRAK,” explained fifth year Northeast Co-Director Vicki Emig. “We explained all of the benefits of the FASTRAK program and now here we are announcing FASTRAK has expanded outside of the U.S. border! The addition of Humberstone plants a seed for future growth in that area and we’re just so excited FASTRAK now has a presence in Canada.”
Davidson expects 10-12 cars to join the new FASTRAK ranks as part of the debut at Humberstone. This will also give racers in the northernmost part of the Northeast Region an option closer to home.
“I’m just as excited as FASTRAK is,” expressed Davidson. “I’ve kept a close eye on FASTRAK in recent years and have been really impressed with the growth and success of the Northeast. I feel like it’s a perfect program for us at Humberstone, and I want everyone to know that I’m committed to making it work. We have a beautiful facility up here and I invite all U.S. racers to come check us out as we’re not as far away as you may think.”
Humberstone’s racers will be able to use their finishes toward the City Chevrolet National Weekly Series Championship, have the ability to run at higher paying Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Northeast Touring Series events, and of course be able to use their utilize their events to be able to participate in the prestigious Grand Nationals in October.
“Last year New Egypt Speedway expanded FASTRAK to a new territory to the east,” stated fifth year Northeast Co-Director Mike Leone. “The class grew throughout the season and we expect a similar trend at Humberstone. Already this season Sharon Speedway came on board as a weekly FASTRAK track and Eriez Speedway was the most recent to announce they were running the class weekly in 2011. Humberstone is another great step toward growth in the northernmost part of the region. United States racers will be welcome to make the trip across the border, but should be reminded to have their passports.”
Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks from both FASTRAK and Humberstone on this exciting new partnership.
