Bloomquist Wins World of Outlaws Opener with Roush Yates Ford

Mooresville, NC (February 18, 2011) Scott Bloomquist brought raw power and a little luck to the World of Outlaws season opener at Volusia Speedway Park on Thursday night, passing two-time defending series champion Josh Richards for the win. Richards' jumped the cushion with 9 laps to go in the 50-lap A Main, allowing Bloomquist to pass him and never look back.

"He got in a little hot, didn't get the car turned enough and got out in the stuff," said Bloomquist of Richards' mistake. "He always seems to dance with the devil. The problem is, it's hard to get out of (the cushion) once you get in, and that's all it takes."

Bloomquist, 47, started on the pole with his Roush Yates powered Ford to win the 20th World of Outlaw race of his career. He will be driving a Ford built by Roush Yates program manager Brad Loden all season long.

"The engines have done great all week," said Loden. "Scott has been commenting on how smooth it runs when he drives into the slick. I want to thank everyone back at the shop in Mooresville, NC and Doug Yates for giving us the absolute best in technology and equipment for short track racing."

Bloomquist has started 2011 off with a bang, winning the opening race and being crowned the 2011 DART Winternationals Points Champion. With 2 main wins, 2 heat wins, and a pole win in less than 2 weeks, Roush Yates' dirt program is looking forward to the remaining 2011 DIRTcar Nationals by UNOH events.

You can follow Roush Yates' drivers Scott Bloomquist in the #0 and Rick Eckert in the #24 tonight in the UMP A-Main and tomorrow night in the 50-lap WoO LMS race. To learn more about Roush Yates' short track engine programs contact Brad Loden at 704-999-0862 or visit www.roushyatesparts.com.
