HAGERSTOWN SPEEDWAY READY TO OPEN WITH RACE-A-RAMA

HAGERSTOWN, MD –Frank Plessinger’s Hagerstown Speedway has less than four weeks before getting underway with the 2011 season.

The speedway has already participated in the 26th Annual Motorsports Race Car and Trade Show at Oaks, Pa. for its 26h consecutive appearance and also at the 28th Annual Dirt Trackin’ 2010 show at the York (Pa) Fairgrounds.

First up this season will be the 26th Annual Race-A-Rama show held at Hagerstown’s Valley Mall. This season’s show is scheduled for March 3-5. The show will feature the speedway’s regular weekly divisions; late model, Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic late model sportsman and Ernie D’s pure stocks along with entries from other race facilities and will include various entries from the Hagerstown Quarter Midget Association.

Due to numerous weather cancellations over past years in the early going, Hagerstown has adjusted its schedule to begin a month later.

The season kicks in with a Test and Tune session for ALL classes of race cars on Saturday, March 19th with a rain date of the 20th.

All championship point events will begin the following week on March 26th.

The Three State Flyer late models will highlight three programs beginning with the 30th Annual Stanley Schetrompf Classic on April 23rd, the 16th Annual Richard “Boney” Bonebrake Tribute on May 28th and the 4th Annual Red Nininger Memorial on June 24th.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanction appears on the 30th Annual Conococheague 50-lap event on July 30th.

Non-sanctioned special late model events include the 46th Annual Johnny Roberts Memorial on July 2ndd, the 31th Annual Ernie D’s Shorty Bowers Bull Durham Championship on August 20th and the 26th Annual McBee/Hays Championship on September 3rd.

Special events for the accompanying classes include the first appearance for the Steel Block Bandits, the Bill Bowman Special and Hoosier Daddy for the Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic late model sportsman and the 16th Annual Cornett Tribute for the Ernie D’s pure stocks. The 25th Annual Tommy Thompson Demo Derby is set for August 27st.

In speedweek events, Hagerstown will open the 3rd Annual Appalachian Late Model Speedweek program on Saturday June 4th while the 410 sprints appear for Pennsylvania Sprint Car Speedweek on Wednesday, June 29th.

The former enduro dash cars have been modified and replaced with the Hobby Stock Cruiser division which will appear in nine events.

The 5th Annual Small Car Nationals for the late model sportsman, pure stocks and four cylinders is scheduled for September 16-17 with a qualifying event held on August 27th.

Other events include the 30th Annual Hub City Classic for the AMA and Grand National motorcycles on July 9th followed two weeks later by the Monster Jam Nationals for a three night show July 22-24.

The season will crest with the 24th Annual Octoberfest 350 on October 29-30 with the late models, big block modifieds, super sprints and small block modifieds events.

December 3rd will conclude the season with the Annual Awards Banquet.
