29th Edition Of SAS / 16th Annual Shamrock / Double-Header Opener Set For March 11th & 12th

Clinton, TN (2/26/11) The twenty-ninth edition of the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series is set to kick off on Friday and Saturday, March 11th and 12th at Boyd’s and Cleveland Speedways, two of the south’s most storied dirt racing venues.

Boyd’s Speedway 3-11-11

The doubleheader weekend will kick off Friday night March 11th at Richard and Robert Harvey's Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia and will feature one of the tracks richest purses in the modern era with a $20,000 total purse and a $5,000 to win, fifty lap main event for SAS Late Models.

The local racing slate will include Crate Late Models, A&B Hobby and Front Wheel Drive divisions. Gate times, pricing and much more additional information will be forthcoming.

Cleveland Speedway 3-12-11

Then it's on to Monty Morrow's Cleveland Speedway in Cleveland, Tennessee for the Sixteenth Annual Shamrock 60, one of the south’s most recognized events that will again boast a thirty-five thousand dollar total purse and will pay the winner $10,000.

Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, Georgia, driving the Barry Wright House Car, walked away with the winners check and the big green Shamrock trophy last year, beating out several big names like Dale McDowell (2nd) Jimmy Owens (3rd) Chris Wall (4th) and Chris Madden (5th). These and many other area heavy hitters are once again expected to embark on Cleveland Speedway for this very special event on Saturday night, March 12th.

Cleveland’s local racing slate will include Limited late Model, Hobby, Pony and Front Wheel Drive. Gate times, pricing and much more additional information will also be forthcoming for the Cleveland event.

The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series tire rule for the 2011 season will be Hoosier Only with the following compounds permitted: 1300, 1350, 1450, 1600, D70 (right rear only option). These compounds include Open and Spec tires. The USA Crate 21s and 55s will also be permitted. All tires must durometer a minimum of 40 and are always subject to chemical analysis through an independent laboratory.
