RACE A RAMA WINNERS ANNOUNCED AT HAGERSTOWN VALLEY MALL By Bob Vores
HAGERSTOWN, MD. – Hagerstown Speedway’s 64th season is now underway as the 26th Annual Race-A-Rama three day car show at the Hagerstown Valley Mall has been concluded.
During Saturday night’s awards presentation, earning the Best of Show award was the Ford powered #46 late model entry of Marvin Winters of McConnellsburg, PA and owned by Tex Shaffer of Mercersburg, PA. Celebrating his 30th anniversary behind the wheel, Dana Signs did the design on the car which featured pictures of all the previous cars Winters has driven during those years. Winters has won championships in three divisions and has close to 90 overall wins at Hagerstown alone.
Late model awards went to the #5 of Wesley Bonebrake, Hagerstown, #12 of Devin Friese of Chambersburg, PA and the #26 of Jerry Bard from Shippensburg, PA
Late model sportsman winners were Elwood Sord’s #77 from Chambersburg, the #16 of defending division champion Pete Weaver of Williamsport, Md. and the #99 of Mike Walls from St. Thomas, PA.
Only two pure stock entries were on hand and the trophies went to the #43 Richard Petty look alike of Lin Sutphin from Round Hill, VA and the #62 of Danny Beavers from Hedgesville, WV.
Judged best appearing of the various other entries on hand was the #03 four cylinder entry of Bryan Neff of Hagerstown, Graham and Mason Brezler, Gary Price, Logan Jones along with Jake and Taylor Lowe received trophies for their Quarter Midget Association of Hagerstown entries.
Already informed in a previous release, the first time on the track will be a Test and Tune for ALL classes of race cars and is scheduled for Saturday, March 19th and will begin at 1:00 p.m. The first scheduled event the following Saturday, April 26th will be a regular program and the first points events for the late models, Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic late model sportsman and the Ernie D’s pure stocks. Warm-ups will begin at 7:00 p.m.
