Dixie Speedway Celebrates 42 Years of Racing with Practice April 9 and Spring Championships April 16

Woodstock, GA. Dixie Speedway is preparing for engines to fire for the first time in 2011 with a scheduled practice and "Open House" on Saturday night, April 9 which will be followed by the Annual Spring Championships on Saturday night, April 16.

"I think everyone is ready to get out to the track again after a long winter. Most of the drivers have new cars and this weekend will be an ideal time to test and tune them for the big race coming up on the 16th," said track owner Mickey Swims.

Admission in the grandstand is free on Saturday night, April 9. The KidsZone will be located in the grandstand with a Bounce House along with free hot dogs for the kids from 5-7 PM. All the fans are welcome to come check out the action with all divisions including Econo Bomber, Super Bombers, Cruisers, Pony Stocks, Crate Late Models, Limited Late Models, and Super Late Models.

Each class will practice separately and get 5 - 6 sessions during the rotation order of divisions in the schedule. The only exception to this will be the Cruiser and Pony Stocks which will get 2 sessions near the end of the night. Each session will be 6 - 8 laps and all should conclude between 10:45 - 11 PM. Gates will open at 5 PM with activity beginning at 7 PM. Trackside /fence admission is $10 and pit passes are $15.

The Annual Spring Championships will get the green flag the following Saturday night, April 16 with all the same divisions competing for prize money with championship races. Grandstand admission will be just $10 for adults with 9-17 yrs old only $6 and kids 8 and under free.

Dixie Speedway will take Easter weekend (April 23) off and return on April 30th with a full racing program and Limited Late Model Championship.

The official 2011 Season Opener is set for Saturday night, May 7 and begins the "every Saturday night" season and the first points race for all divisions.
