NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES ROUND UP FOR APRIL 25 CARTERSVILLE, GA – Bonus points came into play in reshaping the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region standings after Week 4 competition. The top seven drivers in the Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region standings received 25 bonus points for four weeks of perfect attendance at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.
Talladega, AL drivers Adam Gauldin and Jimmy Elkins Jr. share the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region point lead with 212 points apiece. They hold a four-point lead over the third-place driver, Brian Ponder of Talladega, AL.
Gauldin has one win, three top five finishes and five top ten finishes in five starts driving the Adam Gauldin Racing GRT. Elkins has one win, three top fives in four races driving the ADP Special. Ponder has 208 points based on three top fives and four top tens in four starts driving the Ponder Racing Special.
Mike Combs of Odenville, AL is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS OMG East Region standings with 206 points after driving the Pump and Process Special to two top fives and three top tens in four races. Ken Pate of Pell City, AL is fifth with 190 points after one top ten finish in four starts driving the Tom Williams Lexus Warrior.
Mikey Donahoo of Eastaboga, AL is sixth with 189 points with one top ten in four starts driving the Donahoo Racing Special. Karl Parks of Alpine, AL is seventh with 184 points based on two top fives in four starts driving the Kwik Motorsports GRT.
The next three drivers that round out the top ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region point standings will be looking to pick up 25 bonus points if they compete in their fourth straight race at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN this Saturday night.
David Crabtree of Maryville, TN is eighth in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS OMG East Region standings with 171 points after turning in three top fives in three starts driving the Smoky Mountain Brewery Special.
Patrick Duggan of Lenoir City, TN took the win on Saturday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway driving the Duggan Racing GRT and is ninth in the East Region standings with 167 points based on one win, two top fives and three top tens in three starts.
Bobby Giffin of Maryville, TN rounds out the top ten in the OMG East Region standings with 158 points after driving the Stanley Best Heating and Air GRT to one top five and two top tens in three starts.
In Friday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region action, the defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region Champion Chase Edge of Lafayette, AL drove the Edge’s Gas Company Special to his first win of the season at Penton Raceway.
The 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region Champion Adam Martin of Talladega, AL took his second win of the season on Saturday night in OMG East Region action at Talladega Short Track.
In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region action on Saturday night, Kevin Maher of McDavid, FL drove his Maher Motorsports GRT to his second win of the season at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL. Tod Darda of LaGrange, GA picked up his first win of the season by topping a 21-car field at New Senoia Raceway in Senoia, GA driving the PW Performance GRT.
With both scheduled Week 4 events in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region being rained out on Friday night at Malden Speedway in Malden, MO and on Saturday night at NEA Speedway in Harrisburg, AR, the point standings remain the same with Cliff Williams of Star, MS at the top of the list with 150 points.
Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL is second with 148 points followed by Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS with 145 points, Larry Murphy of Meridian, MS with 144 points, and Landon Frith of Terry, MS is fifth with 143 points.
The 2008 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS is sixth with 141 points followed by Jered Smith of Hazlehurst, MS with 139 points, Randy Walters of Hattiesburg, MS with 135 points, Randy Boyd of Marion, MS with 133 points, and Wiley Williams of Stonewall, MS rounds out the top ten in the West Region standings with 128 points.
In the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge, three-time Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR picked up three Week 4 wins from Duggan, Maher, and Darda to move into a tie for the point lead at eight wins with the defending and two-time Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL.
Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge with three wins. Also participating and looking for their first wins of the season are TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN, Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN, and Stinger Race Cars built by J.T. Kerr Racing Equipment of Rockford, TN.
