Salina Speedway Announces Practice Day for May 1

SALINA, Kan. -- Racing returning to the Salina Speedway will come one step closer with the first scheduled event at the Speedway. This upcoming Sunday May 1 will be the first practice session at the track, the first official activity since the track's closure in 2006.

The practice session kicks off with the pit gates and pre-tech opening at 12PM. The first green flag on practice will be at 2PM and run until 6PM.

Admission to the pit area will be $10 while grandstand admission will be free. The concession stand will be open but with a limited menu.

Drivers for the 2011 season are encouraged to pre-register on the Salina Speedway's official website, www.racesalinaspeedway.com . This will speed up the registration process at the track and will also help in promotion of the racing action for the season.

Any type of race car is encouraged to participate in the open practice session, including those who don't normally race at the Speedway.
