JACKSON MOTOR SPEEDWAY STATEMENT

Byram, Ms – Jackson Motor Speedway track ownership and management met recently to discuss various changes that needed to be made to insure the longevity of Jackson Motor Speedway. “Jackson Motor Speedway is a business just like any other,” commented track owner Don Cliburn. “We are going to make some changes that we think will ensure that we can keep the doors open at Jackson Motor Speedway for years to come.”

“I really appreciate the drivers, the teams, the fans and the staff that continue to support JMS each week because I know it is hard in this economy to race or even attend a race right now,” stated Cliburn. One thing is for sure, the dedication by the track owners and personnel to the competitors and fans will never waiver. Without the fans and competitors we wouldn’t be able to enjoy the sport we all love.

Transponders and raceivers: Raceivers have been required for the last couple of years at JMS and continue to be required. Raceivers are now required at just about every race track nationwide. They are used not only to reduce the down time after a caution but to help keep the drivers safe in the event of an accident on the track. This year Jackson Motor Speedway invested in a transponder system. The purpose of this investment is multi-fold but mainly to insure that each driver is being scored correctly and speed up the nights events. If you have been to Jackson Motor Speedway this year you can immediately recognize how the new transponder system has allowed the night of racing to flow much smoother and we have an average ending time before 11:00pm thus far. “For many years I have heard drivers complain about where they were scored on the track, now with the transponder system that complaint is gone,” commented Cliburn.

In 2011 the transponder system is only being used for the Super Late Models and Crate Late Models on a weekly basis. For special events in other classes the transponder system will also be used when a larger number of cars are expected. The transponders are rented for $15 a night or you can check with Randy or Ashley in the track office if you would like to purchase your own. If at any time a transponder fee will be required for any class besides Super Late Model or Crate Late Model, you will be notified in advance via the Jackson Motor Speedway website. In 2012 transponders will be required each week in all classes except Pure Street.

Payout: Please visit www.jacksonmotorspeedway.net for new payouts in each class. No amount payouts are changing, but in an effort to help the racer as much as possible a pit pass for the next weekly racing night will be issued to the drivers finishing 13th – 22nd.

“I cannot stress how much I appreciate the drivers and fans that continue to support JMS,” stated Cliburn once again. “We continue to have a group of people out every day trying to raise money for special events in each class and we should have some specials to announce real soon,” continued Cliburn. “As far as the fans, I always look for ways to make it less expensive on you. It is always my goal to keep the ticket prices, drink and food prices, and other expenses you have as low as possible so you can come watch the sport you love,” stated Cliburn.

Jackson Motor Speedway will be closed this weekend May 21st and next weekend May 28th. The Kajun Mini Stock special will be rescheduled for a later date. Jackson Motor Speedway will return to action on June 4th with Fan Appreciation Night. The general admission grandstand fee will only be $5. All classes will race on June 4th. We are still working hard on sponsors to add some other special events in 2011 so check the track website often for newly scheduled specials.
