FASTRAK NORTHEAST ANNOUNCES 3RD “Futures Cup” RACE EVENT TO BE HELD July 2 AT PITTSBURGH’S PA MOTOR SPEEDWAY; Trifecta Championship Now Added

By Mike Leone
(Pulaski, PA)…The excitement just continues to flow throughout the FASTRAK Northeast Region surrounding the 2011 “Futures Cup” program. Shortly after the release of information concerning the two individual race events to be held at Sharon Speedway on June 4 and Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex on October 7 that were put in place for eligible “Futures Cup” racers, Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway promoter Matt Miley contacted the Northeast Office requesting a “Futures Cup” event.

The third $200 to-win “Futures Cup” race will be held in conjunction with their Saturday, July 2 Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Northeast Touring Bully Dog “Cross the Borders” Speedweek event, which will be sponsored by Miley RV Service and Repair. With the addition of this event, FASTAK Northeast officials will now crown a FASTRAK Northeast “Futures Cup” Trifecta Champion, which will honor the driver who has the highest point total upon completion of just these three races.

These races will be tallied into the overall “Futures Cup” point standings, which will pay the champion $1,000 amongst a $3,000 point fund to the top 10 racers; however, the Trifecta Champion will be crowned based off of the total point score from these events and will receive a beautiful trophy in recognition of his accomplishment.

“The Miley Family were pioneers of crate Late Model racing with the inception of their program before FASTRAK Northeast existed,” explained fifth year FASTRAK Northeast Co-Director Vicki Emig. “Couple that with their belief in the development and support of young racers in their “Young Gun” division, their addition of a FASTRAK Futures Cup race is a natural fit. This event now gives us a perfect spread of dates at venues throughout our region along with dates that are conducive for the majority of our racers to be able to participate in without conflicts.”

Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway will showcase the FASTRAK Late Models in many different ways this night. Not only will this be the first Northeast Touring Series event in two years, but it’ll be part of the inaugural “Cross the Borders” Speedweek, which will offer a point fund with $3,000 cash and $2,000 in contingencies thanks to Bully Dog. The July 2 show will also include the first ever meet and greet FASTRAK Northeast Touring Series autograph night on the speedway during intermission.

And it doesn’t end there! Fans that bring a $25 retail receipt from a NAPA Auto Parts store between May 1 and July 2 will receive free grandstand admission plus those in youth sports and scouts in uniform will also be admitted free!

“The Trifecta Championship is just another way to continue to create excitement and show our young racers how important they are to the FASTRAK Northeast Series and its future,” stated fifth year FASTRAK Northeast Co-Director Mike Leone. “We wanted to add a little more opportunity for them than just going off the National Weekly Series points. By allowing these drivers the ability to actually race against each other and add points to their total in three separate events is sure to add an exciting twist to the end results of the Futures Cup Championship. Now also, one driver will be able to boast he is the Trifecta Champion turning is the best overall performance in these three races alone!

Currently, the following 16 drivers are eligible for the “Futures Cup” and to be able to compete in these events: Russell Baird, Jr., Matt Bassaro, Nico Dabecco, Damian Bidwell, Joe Long, Lauren Longbrake, Ryan Montgomery, Jorden Peters, Joe Petyak, Bobby Rohrer, Jr., Clay Ruffo, Newt Tackett, Shane Weaver, Eric Wilson, Chad Wright, and Alessa Young.

Again, drivers 19 and under that have no more than one year of FASTRAK experience can begin now to accumulate FASTRAK “Futures Cup” points and compete in the events by simply becoming a member of FASTRAK. Membership forms are available online under the Membership link at www.fastraknortheast.com

FASTRAK Northeast’s 2011 marketing partners include Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC, Original Pizza Logs, Bully Dog, Contingency Connection, Utsinger’s Towing, and Hoosier Tire.
