William Thomas Launches New Site; Wins at Penton

Phenix City, Alabama (05/23/11) – William Thomas from Phenix City, Alabama is the latest addition to the MSRMafia.com team and has launched a brand new website at www.WilliamThomas.net .

The 23 year-old Thomas, who will turn 24 years-old this Saturday, May 28th, has been racing for over 11 years and competes in the Dirt Super Late Model and Dirt Crate Late Model divisions. He splits time between his #22 Mastersbilt and #22 GRT and in his Super Late Model he utilizes a Lamar Hunt Racing Hunt. During the course of his young career he has amassed 109 feature wins. He's off to a fast start to the 2011 season with several top ten finishes and already two feature wins. He is also pursuing the 2011 Southern All Stars Super Late Model Series Rookie of the Year title and overall championship.

Last weekend William entered two events and Friday night found him claiming his most recent win as he was in action at Penton Raceway (Penton, Alabama) with the NeSmith Late Model Series. After being the first car to go out for qualifying, Thomas laid down the fastest lap in his group and the second fastest time overall, which earned him the outside front row starting spot for the $2,000 to win, 40 lap feature. He grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag and never looked back on his way to the win, which came over Chase Edge and David Earl Gentry.

On Saturday night, William resumed his pursuit of the Southern All Star Super Late Model championship as he traveled to Cleveland Speedway (Cleveland, Tennessee) for a $5,000 to win event around the 1/3 mile oval. Thirty-five Super Late Models entered the event, and on a rough track, Thomas would struggle in time trials, which left him starting fourth in a b-main, which he won. Via his b-main win, he started 11th in the feature, and early in the feature he quickly raced his way into the fifth position. Over the remainder of the race he would advance two more spots to finish third behind race winner, Jonathan Davenport, and David Payne. With the third place finish, Thomas is now leading the Southern All Star Series overall standings as well as the Rookie of the Year standings with the tour.

The upcoming weekend will see Thomas making the trek to Mississippi for a pair of Southern All Star Super Late Model events. On Saturday, May 28th he will take part in a $5,000 to win event at Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi) before moving on to Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) for another $5,000 to win event on Sunday night, May 29th.
