Bowen Makes Carolina Speedway Visit Pay Big

GASTONIA, NC (June 3) – Dean Bowen made the long haul from Whiteville, NC pay off in a big way Friday  night at Carolina Speedway as he conquered the newly re-configured racing surface to score his first Roush Yates Late Model win of 2011.

Tim Allen charged from the rear to finish second with early leader Jay Sessoms third. Fourth and fifth went to Billy Thompson and Ken Rominger Jr.

In the NDRA GM Performance Late Model feature it was once again Ron Parker stealing the show. Parker started fourth and wrestled his machine to the lead with five laps to go. Anthony Sanders, who led the majority of the main event took a last lap stab at the leader but spun in turn three. Michael Brown was second with Jonathan Edwards third, Greg Barker fourth and Tim Christie fifth.

Terry Brooks Jr, made a last lap pass of Ronald Pope to post the Domino’s Pizza Street Stock victory. Pope, Brent Hodges, Mike Messer and Patrick Lyon rounded out the top five.

In the Open Wheel Modified main event Kyle Strickler made the high side work as he swept around early leader Ryan Ayers to score the victory. Taylor Cook gave chase but had to settle for second. Third through fifth went to; Manuel Johnson, Derrick Ramey and Harry Poole.

Shannon Barnhill charged from his 15th starting spot to score the Q2U BBQ Pit Four Cylinder win. Brian Nuhfer, Adam Piercy, Derrick Long and Dylan Terlinade followed.

Patrick Lyon made a late race pass of John Rhyne to score the win in the Tilley Harley Davidson Renegade main event. Rhyne, David Carswell, Chris Stowe and Ronald Pope completed the top five.
