Pole-Sitter Josh Richards Races to Third Place Finish at Chicagoland Speedway with Venturini MotorsportsJoliet, Ill. (June 5, 2011) - Starting from the pole position, Shinnston, W.V. native Josh Richards shined at Chicagoland Speedway with a third place finish in only his seventh start in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. Fielded by the ARCA Racing Series aces at Venturini Motorsports, Richards' No. 25 Kentucky Fuel/Texas Corral/ Joy Mining Machinery Toyota led 11 laps of the 100 lap Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 150 at Chicagoland Speedway.
"We had a great car from the start, but I didn't expect anything less from the Venturini guys," said Richards, "Earning my first pole in only my seventh ARCA start was really exciting. We were good right out of the box though, so I knew we had the potential."
Never falling below seventh, two-time World of Outlaws Late Model Series champion, Richards, tallied his second career top-five finish in the ARCA Racing Series and first Menards pole award. Richards entered Saturday's Messina Wildlife Animal Stopper 150 looking for more pavement experience before his first start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series on July 7 at Kentucky Speedway with 2010 owners champions Kyle Busch Motorsports.
"Bringing home a third place finish for these guys felt great. Thanks to Venturini Motorsports and my sponsors Joy Mining Machinery, Kentucky Fuel and Texas Corral. I'm really looking forward to getting back behind the wheel with the Venturini team in Michigan in a few weeks," said Richards.
Before his debut in the truck series, Richards will again compete in the ARCA Racing Series with his next event just two weeks away at Michigan International Speedway. Again piloting a Venturini Motorsports entry, Richards will make his eighth career ARCA Racing Series start on Friday, June 17 in the RainEater Wiper Blades 200 in the Irish Hills of Michigan. Tune to SPEED for live coverage of the 200 lap event at 5 p.m. ET.
