FASTRAK NORTHEAST LATE MODEL TOURING SERIES TO JOIN WORLD OF OUTLAW LATE MODELS IN EPIC EVENT ON JULY 26 AT DOG HOLLOWBy Mike Leone
(Strongstown, PA)…FASTRAK Northeast Late Model officials are thrilled to announce today that the Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC Touring Series will join up with the inaugural appearance by the World of Outlaw Late Models at Dog Hollow Speedway on Tuesday, July 26! The event will pay $1,500 to-win.
The FASTRAK Northeast Touring Series is in its fifth season and Dog Hollow has been a weekly-sanctioned speedway since the inception in 2007. Dog Hollow has averaged some of the highest weekly car counts, and the Touring events always draw in a mix of cars from throughout the region. Five Northeast Touring Series events have been held in the four prior seasons with no repeat winners as Bobby Powell, Alan Dellinger, Dick Barton, Tom Snyder, Jr., and Joe Martin have been victorious.
The event will serve as an excellent tune-up for Night 1 of the FASTRAK Grand Nationals coming up at Dog Hollow on Saturday, October 1. This event will also pay $1,500 to-win and give racers important points before heading south for Nights 2 and 3.
Last year, FASTRAK joined up with the World of Outlaws at Sharon Speedway during this same time and attracted 40 cars. With the closing of Central PA Speedway, Dog Hollow picked up the ball and just announced they were taking over the event.
“We really enjoy being part of these big events,” explained fifth year Northeast Co-Director Vicki Emig. “Jim Michny of Dog Hollow is such a big supporter of FASTRAK and we have to thank him for giving us the opportunity to be part of this epic event. Already this season it was great to be able to run with Lucas Oil at Roaring Knob and USAC at Lernerville. We’ll be back with the World of Outlaws at Tri-City over Labor Day Weekend. Being part of these shows allows us to showcase our Series and racers to a large and new fan base.”
The Sweeney Chevrolet Buick GMC FASTRK Northeast Touring Series is coming off a successful inaugural Bill Emig Memorial “Wild Card Weekend,” which attracted 41 cars at Sharon Speedway and 46 at Lernerville Speedway as 59 different competitors were in action over the two days.
