After Trip To Eldora, ‘Chubzilla’ Looks Forward To Final Firecracker 100 Tuneup At Lernerville & Return To World of Outlaws Late Model Series Action

BEAR LAKE, PA – June 16, 2011 – With a disappointing trip to Ohio’s Eldora Speedway for the DIRTcar UMP-sanctioned ‘Dream ‘XVII’ behind him, Chub Frank has shifted his focus to an important weekend doubleheader in the Commonwealths of Pennsylvania and Virginia.

The 49-year-old driver from Bear Lake, Pa., has visits to Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., and Winchester (Va.) Speedway on his schedule this weekend. He plans to enter Lernerville’s DIRTcar UMP Late Model ‘Mid-Season Championship’ event on Friday night (June 17) and the World of Outlaws Late Model Series Gunter’s Honey Spring 50 on Saturday evening (June 18).

Frank’s competitive twinbill comes after he fell short of qualifying for last Saturday night’s $100,000-to-win Dream at the famed Eldora oval. Forced to play catch-up after timing 59th-fastest (15.813 seconds) in the 91-car field during Friday’s rain-plagued qualifying session – the heavy, horsepower-necessary track conditions didn’t match his car’s engine combination – he couldn’t quite advance far enough in his heat race or the B-Main on Saturday night. He finished fifth (from the 10th starting spot) in the fifth of six 20-lap heats and placed seventh in the 20-lap B-Main, missing the last-chance race’s final transfer position by just a single spot.

Frank was bidding to make his eighth Dream A-Main start since 2000. His career-best finish in the event is third, in 2007.

Friday night’s program at Lernerville will provide Frank a final opportunity to get his newest Corry Rubber/Hino Toyota/Horton Equipment Rocket No. 1* tuned up for the four-tenths-mile oval’s WoO LMS Firecracker 100, which features 30-lap, $6,000-to-win preliminary events on June 23 and 24 and the $30,000-to-win Firecracker 100 finale on June 25. He has run the car twice at Lernerville over the past month, scoring one win and a runner-up finish.

Winchester’s first-ever WoO LMS event on Saturday evening will end the tour’s month-long break from action. Frank is currently ranked sixth in the WoO LMS points standings through 10 events this season.
