Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Event at Wythe Raceway Has Been Rained Out Tonight

Rural Retreat, VA (June 18) - Tonight's Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event at Wythe Racewayin Rural Retreat, VA has been rained out. Heavy rains have been steady at the speedway and the forecast calls for even more severe weather throughout the night.

This event was scheduled to be the second leg of a double header this weekend with Steve Shaver winning last nights event at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, SC. Shaver won the 50-lap $10,000 to win Grassy Smith Memorial Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned event beating a hard charging Ray Cook at the line by one car length. Shaver became the 10th different winner on the series in 2011.

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series would like to remind everyone to tune in tomorrow to watch the "Rockstar Energy Drink Show-Me 100 presented by DART Machinery" on CBS Sports Spectacular at 5PM EST. This broadcast will be the first time a dirt late model event will be televised on a major TV Network. The event was held on May 27th and 28th at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO. and was won by Jimmy Owens in an exciting finish beating two time series defending champion Scott Bloomquist at the line by a half a car length.
