J.D. Hubert, Jason Russell, and James Flood Score Lucas Oil Speedway Wins
Wheatland, MO (June 27th, 2011)- On an extremely warm and muggy Casey's General Stores Night at the Races at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri this past Saturday night, J.D. Hubert, Jason Russell, and James Flood scored feature wins in the TNT Quick Shop Late Models, Pitt's Homes A-Modifieds, and Carson's Corners Napa Factory Stocks respectively. With a special double points night and the Casey's Mid-Season Championship on the line, it was Rylan Long, Mickey Burrell, and Flood capturing the 2011 Lucas Oil Speedway Mid-Season Championships.
In the TNT Quick Shop Late Models, it was an all Hubert front row as J.D. Hubert lined up his 2011 Longhorn Chassis on the pole with younger brother Evan to his outside on an extremely fast Lucas Oil Speedway racing surface. J.D. controlled the action through the early laps but Henley, Missouri's Jason Russell slipped past Evan for second as the three leaders put on a thrilling side by side show of full bodied Dirt Late Model racing. Evan mounted a charge near the end overtaking Russell for third and gave J.D. a challenge on the outside at the finish but J.D. held them at bay to score his first win of the 2011 Lucas Oil Speedway Season. Evan took second at the finish while Russell settled for third. Greenfield, Missouri's Rylan Long charged from his eleventh starting spot to finish in fourth with Neosho's Chris Hawkins capturing the final spot in the Top-5.
Jason Russell pulled double duty running both the Pitt's Homes A-Modifieds and the TNT Quick Shop Late Models as he scored the win in the Pitt's Homes A-Modifieds driving a newer GRT by Phillips Chassis. Russell dominated the race as he withstood multiple challenges from Eric Turner to take the win. Eric brought out a brand new white and red schemed car to Lucas Oil Speedway thrashing and bashing his way on the outside to charge from fifth to second at the finish. Tracey Wolf continued his solid effort this season scoring a strong third place finish. Urbana, Missouri's Terry Kirk crossed the AAA Insurance Start/Finish line in fourth with another Urbana driver, Lyle Dietrich finishing in fifth.
In the Carson's Corner Napa Factory Stocks, former track champion James Flood was clearly the class of the field as he led the field to the green flag from his pole position and never looked back to claim not only the win but the 2011 Mid-Season Championship in the process as he now leads defending Track Champion Randy Gilmore by a mere 14 points. Flood's teammate Burl Woods out of Republic, Missouri took second at the finish with Warrensburg's Mark Carter in third. A pair of Wheatland drivers took the fourth and fifth spots as Chip Shaddox finished just in front of Randy Gilmore.
