PROCHNOW BREAKS WINLESS SPELL, MID SEASON CHAMPS HONORED
by Bill Nelson
It was mid season point night at the speedway with Brandon Hare in the USRA b-Mods, Danny Hanson in the WISSOTA Street Stocks, Jared Boumeester in the WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, Kelly Anderson in the WISSOTA Super Stocks, Nick Herrick in the WISSOTA Late Models and Bob Timm in the USRA Modifieds crowned the midseason champs.
Neil Eckhart led at the drop of the green as they came five wide out of turn two for the fourth spot. IT didn't work well for Kelly Anderson who went off on the back of the hook. On the restart Eckhart led while Nick Beyenhof took a light roll onto his lid in turn two. The final attempt at green flag racing saw Eckhart again lead with Brad Waits in second. Kyle Jumbeck and Mike Prochnow raced for third with Lance Matthees in fourth. Four laps completed and Waits worked under Eckhart for the lead as Prochnow started to work in the high groove to his liking and moved past Jumbeck for third. Matthees took over the fourth spot on lap seven while Waits continued to pull away from Eckhart up front. On lap nine Matthees and Prochnow split Eckhart and took their battle up to the second and third spot. With twelve down Waits started working in lapped traffic. Jumbeck, Nick Herrick and Doug Herrick raced for fifth as Nick and Jumbeck got together ending their nights. On the restart Waits led. Prochnow continued to roll in the upper groove and pulled alongside for the lead on lap seventeen. Prochnow took over the lead on lap eighteen and cruised home to the win over Waits, Matthees, Eckhart and Doug Herrick.

Kath took over second on lap three as Demmer, Jeremy Smith and Wytaske raced three wide for fifth. With seven down Timm started racing through the lap traffic at the back of the pack. Smith took over fourth while Brandon Hare cracked the top five. With ten down a tire came off the second place machine of Kath bringing out the caution. On the restart Timm took off with Bleess and Smith racing for second. Ben Anderson moved into fourth as the laps clicked down. Anderson moved under Bleess for the third spot as the white flag waved. At the checkers it was Timm holding off Smith, Anderson, Bleess and Hare for the win. Smith, Hare and Shaun Walski took home heat wins.
Dan Holland jumped out to the early lead in the 331 Bar and Grill WISSOTA Street Stock feature. Out of turn two they raced four wide. The caution flew after the completion of lap one. Holland led on the restart with Karl Hewitt Jr. and Kory Adams racing for second. Behind them Donny Ganz and Shaun Mann were side by side for fourth. Mann moved up to race with Hewitt JR, and Adams for second. On the next lap Mann dropped back slightly as Danny Hanson worked into the top five. On lap five Holland shut the door on Adams as he worked to his outside as the top six cars were all really close under one large pack. A caution flew on lap seven and on the restart Holland led with Hanson working to his outside for the lead. Hanson led lap eight as Mann and AJ Zvorak raced for third. With ten down Mann and Zvorak were on Holland's rear bumper just as Holland made a mistake and dropped back to fourth. As the checkers flew it was Hanson, Mann, Zvorak, Holland and Adams in the top five. The win put Hanson as the all-time WISSOTA Street Stock feature winner at the speedway.
Dan Wheeler never relinquished the lead in the Dirt Doctor Trucking WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature event. Early on Cody Gardner sat in second with Rob Arnold and Jared Boumeester racing for third. With two down Boumeester took over third while Greg Pfeifer Jr. moved into the top five. Boumeester raced up and started to pressure Gardner for second as Justin Oestreich raced Pfeifer Jr. for fifth. Oestreich took over the spot as a caution flew with eight down. On the restart Wheeler took off with Boumeester in hot pursuit. Boumeester looked low on Wheeler and was able to pull alongside a couple times but was unable to make the pass for the lead while Oestreich and Pfeifer Jr. continued to race for fourth now as Arnold dropped back out of the top five. Wheeler took home the win with Boumeester, Gardner, Oestreich and Pfeifer JR. rounding out the top five.
A complete restart was needed for the US ARMY WISSOTA Super Stocks after Tony Bloom, Ryan Siegle, Michael Hofer and Jon Duffy tried a four wide race for the lead out of turn two. On the restart Duffy took the outright lead with Siegle in second. With three completed Hofer and Dan Gullikson raced for fourth behind Bloom. Up front Siegle moved alongside of Duffy for the lead. The two made contact out of four with Siegle getting the upper hand and taking the lead. With five down Bloom, Hofer and Gullikson battled for fourth. With eight down Kelly Anderson raced with Hofer for the fifth spot. Ten down saw Siegle continue to pull away up front. At the finish it was Siegle, Duffy, Gullikson, Anderson and Bloom in the top five.
The NAPA AutoCare USRA Modifieds saw perfect track conditions as the track finally dried a little and they were all over the speedway during the racing action. Mike Sorensen jumped out front with Bobby Swanson in second. Kevin Stoa took over second on lap two with Joel Alberts following through to third. On lap four Steve Wetzstein and Swanson raced for fourth. With ten down Stoa made up some ground on Sorensen up front. Bob Timm worked under Swanson for the fifth spot with Tim Donlinger, Jason Cummins, Nate Wasmund and Josh Angst in a tight battle for eight to keep the crowd entertained as Sorensen again started to put some gap between him and Stoa. With sixteen down Wetzstein worked past Alberts for the third spot. Sorensen cruised home with the win over Stoa, Wetzstein, Alberts and Timm. The win put him second on the all time win list at the speedway after overtaking Mark Teske for the spot.
