Christine Jr. Returns to Victory Lane at SSP on Saturday Night

Newberrytown, PA (June 25, 2011) – On Saturday night, June 25, Manchester’s Randy Christine Jr. returned to victory lane for the second time this season by winning the 25-lap Late Model feature at the Susquehanna Speedway Park. In Street Stock racing action, Dan Zechman of Hanover came from a 15th place starting spot to win his fifth feature event of the season. Dover’s J.R. Rodriguiz won his first career Xtreme Stock Car feature event. York Haven’s Daryl Sipe continues to dominate the Mini Van division by winning his third of the season. Matt Wallace of Mt. Airy, MD wont he Classic Car 15-lap feature event. Kid’s Box Car races also highlighted the fun evening for everyone.

The 25-lap Late Model feature event started with Randy Christine Jr. quickly grabbing the lead from his fourth place starting spot. With lots of racing action behind him on the multi-groove track, Christine continued to hold a steady line around the track. Early on and throughout the mid-stages of the race, Alex Updegraff challenged Christine. With five laps remaining, Justin Ehrhart moved into the runner-up spot and put lots of pressure on Christine. Christine held the high line and went on to claim his second win of the season. Ehrhart settled for second, followed by Carl Billet, Updegraff and Larry Baer. Heat wins went to Updegraff and Baer.

Doug Bennett started on the pole of the 20-lap Street Stock feature and took the early lead. The man on the move was 15th place started, Dan Zechman who moved into the runner-up spot on lap 8. On lap 14, Zechman finally made the winning pass to claim his fifth win of the season over 4-time winner Doug Bennett. Scott Thunberg finished third, followed by Jim Palm Jr. and Nick Bloom. Jeff Haag and Bennett were heat race victors.

J.R. Rodriguez led from start to end to claim his career first Xtreme Stock Car feature event. Adam Smith pursued and challenged but was unable to make the winning pass and settled for second. Cameron Benyou finished in third, followed by Rich Lomman and Kody Sites. Patrick McClane and Lomman won their respective heat races.

Daryl Sipe led every lap of the Mini Van 10-lapper to claim his third victory of the year. Kyle martin finished second, followed by Donny Groff, Davey Groff Jr. and Jeremy Haines. Martin won the heat race.

Matt Wallace became the third different winner in as many Classic Car features at SSP. Jim Crocker was the runner-up, followed by Kurt Welsh, Justin Cullum and Neal Reamer.

Racing action returns to the SSP Outback Track on Friday night, July 1 at 7:30 p.m. featuring quarter midgets, karts, Adult Speedcars and lawnmower racing action.

Racing action then returns to the Big Track at SSP on Saturday night, July 2 featuring the Late Models, Street Stocks, Xtreme Stock Cars, Road Warriors and PENNMAR Vintage Cars for the 6th Annual Summer Fun Championships. The start time is 7:00 p.m. for racing action on Saturday night.
