NDRA Road Show Set to Invade Carolina Speedway Friday July 1st

GASTONIA, NC – As the Summer temperatures continue to raise the action on the NDRA ‘Road Show’ presented by Henitz Performance is starting to heat up. The next stop of the 2011 circuit brings the starts and cars to Carolina Speedway on Friday night July 1st for the 3rd Annnual ‘Firecracker 40’.

The main story line could be who can put a stop to Ron Parker’s early season dominance. Parker has captured six NDRA wins at Carolina this season. The track put a bounty on the popular driver known as ‘The Bull’ last weekend and Chester, SC’s Chris Cantrell was up to the challenge as he walked away with $2,100.

“We are looking forward to this event as much as any we have all year,” said Carolina Speedway’s Mark Gibbons. “Not only are we expecting a big NDRA field we are also having a huge fireworks show to cap off the night.”

Last year Gaffney, SC’s Dennis ‘Rambo’ Franklin topped a strong field of competitors to score the $2,000 win and he will be one of the favorites on hand at this year’s event. Parker enters the event with a stranglehold on the point standings in both the Road Show and City Chevrolet League Championship series.

Parker’s victory in May at Charlotte Motor Speedway vaulted him into the series point lead over Jimmy Schiltz, Zack Mitchell, Matt Long and Anthony Sanders. All these drivers plus many more should be on hand. One driver who will be making his NDRA debut will be Dallas, NC’s Jeff Smith. Smith a former Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series champion will surely be a factor in the outcome of the event.

Also on the card for July 1st are the Open Wheel Modifieds, Street Stock, Renegade and Four Cylinders. A huge Fireworks show will conclude the main event. Gates open at 5:00 with racing at 8:00 pm. General admission is only $15. Kids 11 and under are always free. For more information please visit www.carolianspeedway.net
