Chad Simpson Wires NCRA Field in ACS Late Model Challenge

by David Smith Jr
CORNING, Iowa (July 2) - Chad Simpson of Mt. Vernon, Iowa took the lead at the start and never looked back in claiming his second career series victory as the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Smiley’s Racing Products DIRTcar late model series joined forces with the DART Corn Belt Clash and Lucas Oil late model series in an invasion of Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa on Saturday night.

By virtue of picking up the victory in his heat race and earning the most passing points, Chad Simpson, driving the Liebe Trucking/GATR Volvo GMC/Five Star Shop Service sponsored Pro Power powered Masterbuilt chassis, started on the pole for the thirty lap feature and went on to claim the $3000 victory. He also took top honors at this inaugural event last season as well.

Tim Isenberg of Marshfield, Wisconsin crossed the line second while John Hampel, Justin Mitchell and Jason Rauen rounded out the top five.

Forty-one cars participated in the five, ten lap heat races with Chad Simpson, Denny Eckrich, John Anderson, Isenberg and Bill Koons claiming victories while former 2002 series champion Al Purkey and Kevin Sather claimed the ten lap “B” features.

The tour now join forces with the series Great Plains late model region and head to Belleville High Banks in Belleville, Kansas in a $2500 to win event atop the big fairgrounds half mile oval.
