Lynn Geisler picks up career win #71 at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway

PITTSBURGH, Penn. (July 9) - Sixty year old Lynn Geisler, Cranberry Township PA showed there is nothing slowing him down in picking up his 71st all time PPMS Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Super Late Model DIRTcar win. Jim Stephans and Lynn Geisler brought the field down for the start, with third starting Mike Johnson grabbing the lead at the drop of the green. Geisler moved into second with Jim Stephans and Mike Davis following. For the next 18 laps Johnson looked like he had things going his way in the non -stop event, with a several car length margin over Geisler. But as the race wore on Johnson's tires began to go, and Geisler's got better and on lap 19 Geisler swept by for the lead in turns three and four and led the rest of the way. Mike Johnson held off Jim Stephans for second, with Mike Davis holding off last week's winner Brandon Burgoon and Steve Baker for fourth, followed by Ben Miley, Mike Norris, Mike Basich, and John Garvin Jr. The heats went to Mike Norris and Steve Baker.

The ARDC Midgets made their first start at PPMS since 1987, with Ryan Smith, Kunkletown PA, picking up his third win with the series. Smith grabbed the lead at the start, and led the first four laps, before Alex Bright took over. Bright seemed to be pulling away, when it seemed his car slowed on lap 8, putting Smith back in the lead. Bright recovered and ran second until lap 10 when he dropped out. From that point on the race was all Smith's, as the led the remainder of the event with no serious challenges. Andrew Hannula was second followed by Nick Wean, Brenden Bright, Brett Arndt, Dusty Heistand, Drew Heistand, Steve Craig, Mark Gilmore and Bruce Buckwalter Jr. The heats had Ryan Smith and Andrew Hannula picking up the wins.

Point leader Colton Flinner, Allison Park PA won his first Brougher's Machine Shop Fastrak Crate Late Model feature of the season. Nico Dabecco was the early leader leading the first two laps before Mike Reft took over. Reft held the lead until lap 15, when Flinner made his move. Eighth starting Flinner pulled away in the remaining laps to pick up the win. Justin Lamb came from 12th to finish second followed by Reft, Mark Moats Jr., Beau Glemba, Scott Schempp, Tom Klein, Ron Hall, newcomer Mike Anderson, and Dustin Curry. The heats fell to Justin Lamb and Beau Glemba.

The Miley RV Service UMP Modifieds saw Colerain OH's Bruce Takach pick up his 4th win of the season and second win in a row. Takach started 10th and ran down early leaders Kevin Miller and Kari Gasser to take the lead on lap 7 and win going away. Takach won over Gasser, Miller, Clayton Kennedy, J.E. Stalder, Tom Martineck, George Nicola, Chris Basich, Vince Laboon and Denny Nakutis. Bruce Takach also won the heat.

McKees Rocks PA's Jake Simmons won his 6th Sunoco Race Fuels DIRTcar Cadet feature of the season. Simmons started 11th and took the lead off Dave McManus on lap 5 and held off Pat Weldon the rest of the way. Following the front pair were Jesse Gould, Dave McManus, Craig Koteles, Drew Koteles, Curt Bish, Charlie DiLoreto, Don Bauerle and Bill Robertson in the Nick Kocuba entry. Jake Simmons also won the heat.

Joe Podolinsky Oakdale PA started on the pole and led all the way to win his 3rd Miley BP Car Wash DIRTcar Hobby Stock feature. Podolinsky was followed by Ricky Steigerwald, Ed Wiser, Richard Wilson, Chase Evans and Hannah Ramsey. Ricky Steigerwald won the lone heat.

Bernie Blair Jr. Pittsburgh PA won his 2nd Imperial Heights Garage DIRTcar Young Gun feature in a row. Blair started 4th and took the lead off Zack Stehle on lap 3 and held off Stehle the rest of the way. The front pair was trailed by, Adam Carson, Todd Weldon, Logan Crewl and Courtney Chamberlain.

Upcoming at PPMS on July 16 will be a regular show, then on July 23 the UFO vs ULMS F-2 Shockwave, with 2 28 lap Super Late Model Features paying $4,000 total to win, plus the Crates, TSMA E-Mods, Cadets, Hobbys and Young Guns. And it's Nickels Bakery/Berk's Hot Dogs $1 Dog Night! On July 30 it will be a regular show plus Bad Habit Monster Truck and Quad Exhibition and the Wacky Wheels Triple 8. It will also be Pittsburgh Circle Track Club Night. There will be a separate ticket price for the Monster Truck and the stock car races, or a combo ticket price. Regular shows consist of the Super Late Models, Fastrak Crate Late Models, UMP E-Mods, Cadets, Hobby Stocks and Young Guns.
