Lobb scores Super Late Model win on autograph night at Eriez Speedway
Hammet, PA (July 24) - With temperatures finally moderating from the recent heat wave, fans and crew celebrated Autograph night at Eriez Speedway with the Pittsburgh Circle Track Club in attendance. John Lobb won the Jay’s Auto Wrecking Super Late Model feature while Max Blair continued his domination of the Bonnell Collision Center FASTRAK Late Models. Ryan Scott got his 3rd consecutive Dan’s Rt 8 Boardwalk Bar & Grill Limited Late Model feature win and Pat McGuire got his first win in the Rohrer Trucking Street Stocks. Joey Buccola Jr drove to win number four in the Hunter Trucking Sportsman feature and reigning champion Josh Hebner continued his domination of the Kandy’s Dinner Theater Challengers after his brother Don was involved in a wreck while leading.
The Jay’s Auto Wrecking Super Late Model feature featured an all Lobb front row with Randy on the pole and John outside. Only two laps were complete when Jason Morell spun in turn three. John was the leader at the time so for the restart he was the sole occupant of row one with Randy Lobb and John Volpe sharing row two. Chris Hackett was the man on the move, using the high line to advance to fourth by lap seven. At halfway, John Lobb had a near straightaway lead on Randy Lobb with Hackett now in third, Volpe fourth and Matt Urban fifth. Hackett came around the outside of Randy Lobb for second on lap 16. At lap 18 Ron Bem spun on turn four directly in front of the leader, collecting Lobb and bringing caution on the track. Lobb did not stop and therefore retained his lead, but said lead was now marginal with Hackett restarting right behind with Randy Lobb still third. Twelfth starting Ron Davies came to third at lap 19 and started challenging Hackett, gaining the runner-up spot a lap later. Davies closed the gap on John Lobb, but was unable to make the pass. Lobb got his first win of the season over a fast-gaining Davies with Hackett third, Dave Hess Jr coming in fourth and Randy Lobb fifth.

Hess made it to second at the end of fourteen laps and set out to track down the leader. One lap later Gurdak’s lead disappeared when Josh John spun in turn two. For the restart Hess and Watson were right on the leader’s rear spoiler with five laps to go. On the first lap after green Watson came by the leader on the high side and at the white flag Hess and Gurdak were side by side with Hess appropriating the spot coming out of turn two on the final lap.
