Point battle tightens with Knoxville next on Deery schedule

KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 26) – With just four points separating the top three drivers, more than bragging rights are on the line next Tuesday night, when the Deery Brothers Summer Series travels to Knoxville Raceway.

Andy Eckrich takes a two point advantage over Terry Neal into the July 26 Harris Clash show for IMCA Late Models. Defending series champion Ray Guss Jr., winner of last Wednesday’s tour feature at Quad City Speedway, lurks another two points off the pace.

The main event pays $2,000 to win and a minimum of $250 to start. Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods are also on the program, with a $750 to win feature.

Pit gates open at 3:30 p.m., the draw closes at 6 p.m., hot laps are at 6:30 p.m. and racing starts at 7:15 p.m. Grandstand admission is $15 for adults, $8 for students ages 13-18, $4 for kids ages 6-12 and free for youngsters five and under. Pit passes are $25 and no one under the age of 16 will be allowed in the pit area.

Jeff Aikey has won two of the previous six Deery features held at Knoxville. Steve Kosiski, Gary Webb, Tommy Elston and, most recently, Guss have each won once.

The Knoxville show is the 11th of 18 dates on the silver anniversary series schedule. In conjunction with that race, Late Model driver Charlie McKenna will have his grill car on hand for the complimentary ‘Partnering For A Purpose cookout’ at Pella Motors from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. that day.

Fareway provides the pork loins and hot dogs and proceeds from the event benefit Karsyn’s Krusaders Kickin’ Cancer’s Butt One Lap At A Time, an organization the Deery Brothers Automotive Group is sponsoring this race season.

Funds raised help support families that are battling cancer.
