Scott Autry takes Clash Victory in 1st Annual Shirley Autry Memorial

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - In an emotional victory, Scott Autry took his 5th Career Carolina Clash win and 1st Clash victory of the season. The win came as a special bonus to Scott as this event was a Memorial for his step mother Shirley Autry. Donald and Shirley promoted the Fayetteville Motor Speedway for a few years and supported Scott throughout his racing career.

At the start of the main event the battle up front was Dustin Mitchell and Fastest Qualifier Ricky Weeks. Mitchell stepped out front at the drop of the green with Weeks right on his heels. On lap 3 Autry moved pass Weeks to take over 2nd place only to have weeks take the runner up spot back for the next two circuits. Autry powered pass Weeks again on lap 7 and closed in on the rear deck of Dustin Mitchell. On lap 10 Autry took over the top spot coming off turn 4. Weeks made the pass on Mitchell on lap 13 and pressured Autry for the top spot. With a caution plagued race Weeks kept the heat on Autry on every restart but Autry would not be denied as he went on to take the win. Weeks finished in the runner up spot ahead of Mitchell, Ray Tucker and points leader Dennis 'Rambo' Franklin.

In the Klotz Rookie of the year battle, Travis Yow ran consistently in the top 10 and finished the event in the 6th place to take the Klotz lubricants Rookie of the Race. Chad Paxton was caught up in an early caution and raced his way from the rear of the field to finish 10th. In the ROY points battle Paxton holds an 89 point advantage over Yow.

In Carolina Clash Points "Rambo" has a 13 point lead over Luke Roffers. Mike Gault holds onto 3rd, Kenny Compton is 4th, and Jeff Smith is 5th. Sixth through 10th are Chad Paxton, Scott Autry, Dustin Mitchell, David Taylor, and Travis Yow.

Coming up next for the Carolina Clash will be the Shrine 100 at Carolina Speedway Tuesday August 9th. The Carolina Clash will headline the 39th Annual Shrine 100 for the first time in history. It will be a 30 lap $3,000 to win race for the Clash Supers. This event is to help raise money for the Shriners Hospitals for children and is sponsored by the Gaston County Shrine Club.
