COMP Cams Super Dirt Series Double Header Weekend on Tapby Ben Shelton
Beebe, Arkansas (08/10/11) – The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) will thunder through Arkansas and Missouri this weekend with a pair of events as the tour hosts some of its most pivotal events of the year as the season nears its completion.
After last weekend's events Jon Mitchell has climbed atop the points for the first time in 2011 as he now holds a five point advantage over Kyle Beard, who was bumped from the top spot after struggles last Saturday night at I-30 Speedway. Arguably the hottest driver on the tour over the past month is Brandon Smith, and he is up to third in the series' standings just eight points removed from the lead. Rounding out the current top ten in the standings are Johnny Virden, Jon Kirby, Curtis Cook, Shane Harris, Dewaine Hottinger, Ian Samuels, and Keith Lawson.
The Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year battle continues to see Vilonia, Arkansas' driver, Curtis Cook, leading the way with Shane Harris, Ian Samuel, and Keith Lawson rounding out the standings.
Last Saturday's event at I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas) also served as the final round of the Ricetec Summer Series, and it was 2010 Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year, Brandon Smith, who claimed the $1,000 top prize. Billy Moyer Jr. finished second in the final standings and won a rebuild on a set of shocks from Integra Shocks and Springs, while Jon Kirby finished third and will receive a free drive shaft compliments of Fast Shafts.
On Friday, August 12th, the CCSDS will make their third and final trip of the 2011 season to Beebe Speedway (Beebe, Arkansas) for a $2,000-to-win/$300-to-start, 35 lap event on the 1/4 mile oval. The tour's first two appearances of the season found Allen Murray and Jon Kirby each claiming wins. All local divisions will be in action on the program. Adult grandstand admission is $20 with seniors $15 and kids under the age of 12 free. Pit passes are $30. Gates open at 5:00pm with racing action slated for 7:30pm.
On Saturday night, August 13th, the tour will co-sanction an event with the Mid America Racing Series (MARS) Super Late Models in a $3,000-to-win/$400-to-start, 40 lap event at West Plains Motor Speedway (West Plains, Missouri). The two tours went head-to-head at the facility earlier this year as Jesse Stovall and RC Whitwell each picked up wins. USRA Open Wheel Modifieds, Super Stocks, Hobby Stocks, and B-Mods will also be on the program. Adult grandstand admission is $18 with pit passes $35. Gates open at 5:00pm with hot laps at 7:00pm, and racing action slated for 7:30pm.
