Ross Bailes Back to Victory Lane at Cherokee Speedway

Gaffney, SC - Ross Bailes continues his hot streak by scoring the $4500 Robert "Pop" Pursley Memorial - an unsanctioned 40 lap event at Cherokee Speedway on Friday night. Bailes dominated the event setting fast time of the 23 cars on hand and proceeded to lead every lap to take his 4th career Super Late Model win and 2nd in a row. Bailes fought off early challenges from Ricky Weeks and then Johnny Pursley late in the race. Pursley, who is the grandson of the race's namesake, wound up 2nd. Weeks fell to 3rd followed by Chris Ferguson, Casey Roberts, Jeff Cooke, Dan Breuer and Tim Allen rounded out the top 8.

"Winning the Pop Pursley Memorial is a big deal for me. I grew up knowing Mr. Pursley and the whole Pursley family. We all are from right there in Clover and our families have raced together over the years so it's a real special race to win for me personally. We had a great car and I just can't thank Bobby and Johnny Wilson enough for giving such good equipment. We took our team and added it to theirs and it is worked really well. I want to thank all of the guys that work so hard on our cars and stand behind me every week." Bailes said of his win.
