Redetzke wins feature, Prochnow track champion at Deer Creek Speedway

SPRING VALLEY, Minn. (August 27) - Deer Creek Speedway ended its regular racing programs tonight with 124 cars in the six classes in action at the speedway. A new record was set as over 100 cars checked into the back gate on every night of regular racing action at the speedway throughout the 2011 racing season.

Another strong field of nineteen Altenburg Construction WISSOTA Late Models pulled into the pit area on Championship night. Chris Gilbertson and Jake Redetzke battled for the lead at the drop of the green. Jordan Yaggy moved into second while Gilbertson, Jerry Bloom and Brad Waits were three wide for third. A caution on lap two saw a four wide race for fourth with Bloom, thinking the better of it and left it a three wide battle going into three. Lance Matthees took the third spot over behind Waits as Yaggy raced with Mike Sorensen and Gilbertson for fourth. With eight down Mike Prochnow came to life on the high side of the speedway and moved past Sorensen to take over fifth. Then moved outside of Doug Herrick for fourth on lap ten. Then on lap eleven moved past Matthees for the third spot. With twelve complete Kyle Jumbeck was following Prochnow up top and took over sixth from Sorensen. With thirteen down Prochnow now raced with Waits for second as Redetzke was gone up front. Prochnow took over second with Matthees coming along into third. Jumbeck raced past Waits for the fourth spot on lap twenty. Redetzke extended his advantage over the final five laps to take home the win. Prochnow, Matthees, Jumbeck and Waits rounded out the top five. Prochnow took home the track championship.

Bob Bunne jumped into the lead on the drop of the green during the Dirt Doctor Trucking WISSOTA Midwest Modified Feature with Casey Trom and Jason Born side by side for second. Dustin Scott quickly sat in fourth and took over third as Trom drifted back. The first caution flew on lap two and on the restart Bunne led, Scott moved into second with Jared Boumeester and Born in the top four early on. With four down Scott pulled into the lead but pushed up the track allowing Bunne back by. On the next lap Scott took the lead again for good while Boumeester and Bunne raced for second. The two made contact with Bunne catching a little air on the front, both were able to continue. Bunne held off Born for the third spot as the laps clicked off. By lap nine the Boumeester machine started to slow with a tire going slowly flat. Bunne took over second, almost a half lap behind the Scott machine. A caution on lap fourteen bunched the field back up with Scott leading, Bunne in second. Bill Stettner and Cody Gardner raced for third with Mike Hernke working into fifth. Another caution on lap sixteen set up a g/w/c dash to the finish. This dash took four tries to get the last three laps in with Bunne having rear end problems and a couple minor skirmishes. At the end it was Scott with the win, Jerry Young in second, Boumeester, Harlan Morehart and Trom in the top five. Jared Boumeester took home the track championship.

The 331 Bar and Grill WISSOTA Street Stocks saw AJ Zvorak take off into the early lead with a three wide race for second with Danny Hanson, Karl Hewitt Jr. and Kory Adams. Hanson took second on lap two while Hewitt Jr. pulled to the infield. Mike Blowers moved into third on lap three as the top three put a little distance between them and Adams who was racing with Troy Voth. A caution on lap seven bunched up the field again with Hanson and Blowers racing for second. Blowers took second on lap nine while Adams and Voth raced for fourth. Twelve down and Hanson worked on Blowers for second as another caution flew. On the restart Zvorak took off again with Hanson and Blowers racing for second. Zvorak cruised home with the win from there ahead of Blowers, Hanson, Voth and Adams. Danny Hanson was crowned the track champion.

331 Bar and Grill WISSOTA Street Stocks

The Hinz Trucking USRA B-Modifieds were up next without as many cautions as they have been plagued with lately had a dandy of a race. Shaun Walski jumped out front early on with Brandon Hare and Alex Williamson racing for second. The first caution waved on lap two and on the restart Walski led with Hare in second as the pack raced four wide for fifth. With four down Hare pressured Walski for the lead as Jake Timm took over third and Kylie Kath worked into the top five. Five down Timm moved under Hare for second while Kath now started to pressure Hare for third. A caution with nine down saw Walski leading just slightly ahead of Timm. Kath in third with Hare in fourth while Jacob Bleess was working on Williamson for the fifth spot. With ten down Timm moved under Walski for the lead as Bleess raced with Hare for the fourth spot. Walski and Kath were side by side for second on lap eleven Walski held on for second as Hare got moving again and started to battle Kath for third. As the checkers flew Timm took home the win, Walski in second while Hare nipped Kath at the line for third with Bleess rounding out the top five. Hare took home the track championship.

A great field of cars was on hand to do battle in the US ARMY WISSOTA Super Stock class eighteen cars strong. Jay Oricchio and Ed Sanders raced side by side out of turn two with Jeff Brauer flying around the top side of the speedway into second early on. A caution on lap two saw Sanders leading with Brauer moving into second. Tony Bloom and Oricchio raced for third. Oricchio held onto the third spot on lap four while Ryan Siegle raced Bloom for fourth. With four complete Siegle took over the fourth spot while point leader Kelly Anderson sat in sixth. Brauer took over the point on lap six while Anderson moved into fifth. Now Anderson and Siegle raced for the fourth position. Anderson took the spot briefly on lap nine but Siegle was able to regain control of the spot on lap ten. Anderson resumed the challenge on lap fourteen as they gained on Oricchio in third. A caution on lap fifteen bunched the field back up and on the restart Siegle and Anderson split Oricchio taking their battle to a race for third. Siegel took over third. Another caution on lap seventeen saw Brauer leading, Siegle and Sanders raced for second. Siegle took over second with Anderson trying to follow through. As the field came to the white Anderson made an aggressive move and slid up in front of Sanders for the third spot. At the checkers it was Brauer with the win, Siegle, Anderson, Sanders and Ross Dixon in the top five. That move into third for Anderson was important as Anderson took home the track championship by one point.

Joel Alberts led early in the NAPA AutoCare USRA Modified feature event with a big jumble of cars racing for position behind him. Jason Cummins, Bob Timm and Alberts were three wide for the lead on lap two. Cummins took over the lead as Steve Wetzstein and Alberts raced for third behind Timm. A caution with five down saw Cummins blast back out into the lead with Wetzstein in second. On the next lap Timm moved back past Wetzstein for second. With eight down Mike Sorensen got his momentum working up top and moved past Wetzstein for third. Hank Rollinger Jr. and Wetzstein raced for fourth on lap nine. Rollinger JR. took the spot while Brandon Davis and Nate Wasmund were side by side on Wetzstein’s bumper just outside the top five. With twelve down Cummins was out to a full straightaway lead as Davis took over fifth. Sorensen was quickly gaining on Timm in second and on lap eighteen he took away the second position. Davis moved into fourth on lap eighteen. A caution with twenty two down saw Cummins lead. Timm, Davis and Sorensen battling for second while Tim Donlinger, Wetzstein, Jason Miller and Bobby Swanson playing pin pong for fifth as they bounced off each other in a four side battle to the white. As the checkers flew it was Cummins with the win, Sorensen second, Davis third. Timm and Miller rounded out the top five. Cummins was crowned the track champion.
