WORLD 100 WEATHER BEING WATCHED BY ELDORA STAFF, ALL SYSTEMS GO

ROSSBURG, OH (Sept. 7) – Eldora Speedway officials are keeping a watchful eye on the weather reports in their plans to assure that that 41st annual running of the World 100 for Late Models is completed this weekend (Sept. 9 & 10); and will be prepared to modify the agenda as necessary.

While much of the heavier rains had bypassed the Eldora grounds over the past few days, a light mist began to fall Wednesday morning. The five-day forecast does show chances of rain each day; however the percentage figures diminish daily.

As such, the Eldora crew, which has been through situations such as this many times before, is readying contingency plans.

Offered Larry Boos, Director of Operations, “our crew is ready. We know the importance of this race to the teams and the fans and how much everyone looks forward to it. While Plan A is to stick to the announced schedule, we are ready to adjust as needed.”

Under first consideration will be the Thursday move-in for tech and pill draw. As the rigs pull on to the grounds, they are pre-staged in Eldora’s massive parking lot, which is capable of holding all of the teams until Friday AM if necessary.

If that were to be the case, the rigs would begin pulling in at 8:00 AM (Friday), grounds permitting; with the tech and pill draw commencing one-half hour after the initial rig pulls in. UMP (United Midwestern Promoters), the sanctioning body for the World 100, will have two complete tech teams, capable of rolling the entered cars through tech in quick fashion.

Should Friday’s time trial sessions be weathered out, the entire program would be completed on Saturday, with that time schedule to be announced via the track’s website www.eldoraspeedway.com. There is also a Sunday rain date built in, if absolutely needed.

Boos concluded with, “our entire Eldora team is committed to the success of this event and appreciate everyone’s concerns and worries about the weather, but we want to emphasize the priority is to get it completed this weekend, even if under a modified schedule, and are pooling our resources to the maximum. The website will be updated continually with fresh information.”

The 41st annual chase for the famed globed trophy and $44,000 paycheck is slated to begin Friday night with time trial runs, followed by Saturday’s qualifying heat races and B-Mains to determine the 30-car starting field. Billy Moyer is the defending of the lucrative event which has earned the moniker “granddaddy of ‘em all” from the dirt late model racing fraternity.
