MLRA heads to Springfield Raceway for Larry Phillips Memorial This Saturday

Buckner, MO (September 14) - This weekend the Lucas Oil MLRA will be back in action after a three week break. The series will co-sanction the Larry Phillips Memorial at the Springfield Raceway with the MARS DIRTcar Series. The $3,000 to win show will bring some of the biggest names in the Midwest to Jerry Hoffman and Doug Bland's 1/4 mile oval. This track produces tremendous racing and always leaves fans wanting more.

This will be the third time the Larry Phillips Memorial has been contested at Springfield. "It just means a lot to me (to have this race at my track)," stated Hoffman. "It's neat to be tied into the Larry Phillips Memorial name, for what he was in racing. He was the best back then."

Al Purkey struck for $3,000 in the last Lucas Oil MLRA race, contested at the Springfield Raceway, in May. He continues to lead the championship standings by 30 points over John Anderson. Anderson has been running well lately, reeling off back to back wins. This will be his third visit to the Springfield Raceway. Jeremy Payne won the Larry Phillips Memorial last year, and is expected to return, looking for his first late model win of the season.

Grandstand gates will open on Saturday at 4:30 PM. Adult admission is $20. Pitpasses will be $35. Hot laps will begin at 5:30, with racing to start at 6:30 PM sharp.
