Quincy Raceways Crowns Champions on Final Night of 2011

QUINCY, Ill. (September 25) - Quincy Raceways put the crown on the 2011 season during the Tom Boland Ford/Selby Implement Company Season Championship races on Sunday September 25.
Joey Gower captured the Budweiser Late Model feature event in dominating fashion with Mark Burgtorf making a late race charge to make it close at the checkered flag. Denny Woodworth claimed the third spot with Keith Pratt in fourth and Jason Perry in fifth. Woodworth and Pratt were the heat race winners. Justin Reed took the Track Champion points title earlier in the year.
Steven DeLonjay edged Mark Burgtorf for the Season Championship feature event win in the Miller Lite UMP Modifieds by a mere .024 or a second to seal up his first ever Modified Track Points Championship. Burgtorf settled for second followed by Robbie Reed in third, Dave Wietholder in fourth and Jared Schlipman in fifth. Schlipman, Wietholder and Burgtorf were the heat race winners.
Terry Houston won the battle in the Triple R Performance Engines IMCA Stock Car Season Championship feature event but came up one point short of the Track Championship as Aaron Brocksieck claimed the overall title. Abe Huls scored second followed by Gabe Harrison, Jerry Jansen and Brocksieck in the feature event. Andrew Griffin and Houston were the heat race winners.
The IMCA Northern Sport Mod Season Championship feature event had stacked up to be a great race with Tony Dunker and Joe Bliven entered the night tied in points. Dunkers chance at the first ever IMCA Northern Sport Mod Track Championship went up in smoke as he blew an engine on the first lap of the main event. Bliven then had the misfortune of a flat tire after a tangle on the restart. Blivens restarted at the tail of the field but Jim Gillenwater had the Season Championship feature event well in hand and took his second win of the season. Rick Barlow scored second followed by Bliven in third, John Oliver in fourth and Brandon Dale in fifth. Dunker took the lone heat race win. Blivens third place finish was enough to claim his first ever Track Points Championship in the first season for the IMCA Northern Sport Mods which will become a regular class at Quincy during the 2012 season.
Jake Powers scored his fourth feature event win of the year in the KRNQ Pepsi Inside Track Hobby Stock Season Championship feature event. Powers held off Bobby Anders to take the win followed by Jim Powell in third, Nathan Anders in fourth and Jeremy Buss in fifth. Powers and Buss were the heat race winners. Steve Carlin came home in sixth which was enough for him to claim his fifth Track Points Championship.
Kimberly Abbott scored her third straight Summy Tire and Auto Center Wild Things feature event in the Season Championship main. Abbott off Craig Bangert in second, Austin Uppinhouse in third, Nick Wilkerson in fourth and Seith Woodruff in fifth. Abbott and Uppinghouse were the heat race winners. Woodruff scored enough points to claim his first ever Track Points Championship.
The Kid Modz were an added attraction for the Season Championship night with Logan Mitchell taking the heat and feature win over Kayle Gibson in second and Joey Gibson in third.
The Tom Boland Ford & Selby Implement Company Season Championship night brings the 2011 race season at Quincy Raceways to a close. Look for some very exciting news about the 2012 season at Quincy Raceways in the near future as plans are laid out for the new season.

Quincy Raceways Announces First Hall of Fame Inductees

The Quincy Raceways Hall of Fame committee announced the first members of the newly created Quincy Raceways Hall of Fame on Sunday September 25. Those inducted included a long time track sponsor, three drivers, a former track employee and the Quincy Raceways founders.
The first inductee was the founding family of Quincy Raceways, the Scott Family. Albert, Mary, Bob, Jan and Jeff Scott were honored for their tenure as the founders and owners of Quincy Raceways for over 30 years.
Refreshment Services Pepsi of Quincy who has been a huge track supporter over the year sponsoring classes, races and other events during the tracks history. Randy Boyer of Refreshment Services Pepsi was honored as the companies representative.
Don Hummel was honored as a former employee who helped build the track and his service over the years as an employee. Hummel had been best known as a wrecker driver but also did a multitude of other jobs at the track including being a tech man, driving trucks and other equipment and working at anything that the track needed done.
Steve Fraise was inducted as the first real Super Star driver at Quincy Raceways. Fraise, known as the Flyin Iowan was one of the finest Late Model racers in the Midwest. He won nine track Late Model Track Championships at Quincy during his tenure as a driver.
Henry DeLonjay was honored as he won thirteen Track Championships during his career, ten in the modifieds and three in the old sportsman division. Henry is know as Hank the Crank and is the father of the 2011 Miller Lite UMP Modified Track Champ, Steven DeLonjay.
The final 2011 inductee into the Hall of Fame was Mark Burgtorf. Burgtorf driven the familiar number 7 Late Model to 14 Quincy Raceways Track Championships including an amazing ten in a row. Burgtorf has also won numerous IMCA Late Model National and Deery Brothers titles as well as the 1994 NASCAR Central Region Championship.
