NeSMITH CHEVROLET WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 27 PREVIEW

CARTERSVILLE, GA – This Saturday night is the 27th and Final Week of the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season. West Region competition will take place at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS for the $1,000-to-win I-20 Challenge and at Drew County Speedway in Monticello, AR.

The 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region season has been concluded, as no races are on the schedule for Week 27 competition. The Top 10 points fund-paying spots were decided last weekend.

Although the Top 3 spots in the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region point standings have been decided, the fourth through tenth-place points fund-paying spots in the West Region will be decided at Jackson Motor Speedway and Drew County Speedway this Saturday night. There are just 22 points separating fourth through tenth in the West Region points chase.

Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS clinched the $5,000 2011 NeSmith Weekly Racing Series West Region Championship last Saturday night with 798 points based on his best 14 week point totals and 13 wins. It is the second West Region title for McDuffie, who also won it in 2008.

Duke Palasini of Leland, MS has locked up the second spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region standings with 797 points and 11 wins. Palasini can tie McDuffie in points with a win this Saturday night, but McDuffie would win the tie-breaker with more wins. Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL has clinched the third spot with 777 points.

Three drivers will battle for the fourth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS West Region point standings this Saturday night. Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS is fourth in the West Region standings with 768 points. Arnold can net on a 44 and with a win can bring his best 14 week point total to 774 points.

Bobby Jordan of McCarley, MS is fifth in the West Region standings with 766 points and can net on a 45 that could bring his best 14 week point total to as high as 771 points with a win. Landon Frith of Terry, MS is sixth with 765 points and can also reach the fourth spot by netting on a 45 with a win to bring his total to 770 points.

Randy Boyd of Marion, MS is seventh in the West Region standings with 757 points, but he has the possibility to climb as high as fifth by netting on a 41 with a 50-point win that could bring his best 14 week point total to 766 points. Chandler Petty of Austin, AR is eighth with 756 points and he will be looking to net on a 41 that could bring his point total to as high as 765.

Larry Murphy of Meridian, MS is ninth in the West Region standings with 752 points and can net on a 41 that can bring his season point total up to 761 points with a 50-point win. Bubba Harrison of Cleveland, MS is tenth with 746 points, and a 50-point win this Saturday night would net on a 41 and bring his season total to 755 points.

Jimmy Elkins Jr. of Talladega, AL is the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region Champion with 794 points and eight wins to grab the $5,000 top prize. Tod Darda of LaGrange, GA is the Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region Championship Runner-Up with 789 points and nine wins.

Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL takes the third spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet WRS OMG East Region standings with 788 points and five wins. Mike Combs of Odenville, AL finishes fourth in the OMG East Region standings with 760 points, and Doug Ludwig of Grantville, GA is fifth with 759 points.

Brian Ponder of Talladega, AL finishes sixth in the OMG East Region standings with 747 points, and Russ Ogletree of Phenix City, AL takes the seventh spot with 737 points and four wins. Trey White of Jenkinsburg, GA is eighth with 724 points and one win, and Ryan King of Anniston, AL finishes ninth with 715 points and three wins.

Kevin Maher of McDavid, FL rounds out the Top 10 in the 2011 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Old Man’s Garage (OMG) East Region point standings with 689 points and seven wins on the season.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical GM Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications.
