Wayne County Speedway prepares to go topless for highly anticipated show on October 8th by Ryan Pearson
Orrville, Ohio (October 4) - WCS have been working diligently the past several weeks putting the finishing touches on the highly anticipated Hoosier Tire Mid-Atlantic Topless Night scheduled for October 8th. “We are excited to this upcoming show, the B.O.S.S. Wingless sprints and Topless Late Models plus Tri-State Modifieds and Pure Stocks its gonna be a heck of a show” stated General Manager Jason Flory Wednesday night. “Our fans asked for it and we listened. They supported us this season; it is time to give back to them. We think October 8th is going to be really big.”
Making their first appearance this season at the famed 3/8 speed plant is the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series. With invaders like California native Justin Grant, Two time Lawrenceburg Speedway champion, Joss Moffat and three time Michigan Traditional Sprint Series champion and former SOD champion, Steve Irwin from Flint, Michigan going against locals like Hilliard, Ohio’s Bryce Dickson, 2 time feature winner in 2011 Danny Mumaw and Millersburg, Ohio’s Rob Chaney who has won the MOPAR Thunder ($50,000 to win race) wingless Sprint race among many others who pre-registered its shaping up to be a tremendous show. Recently additional contingencies and bonuses have been announced for the B.O.S.S. Sprints in the form of the increased purse; tire bonuses, a steel block bonus, and a hard charger award. $1,500 will go the winner.
It’s not just the sprinters who are taking the tops off. The fans will be given a bird’s eye view of their favorite drivers as the Super Late Models will be racing without roofs. The Topless Super Late Models will be racing for $1,500 to win. The Tri-State Modifieds are scheduled to mix it up on October 8th, and will be racing for $800 to win. While removing their roof is not required a $100 bonus will be given to the highest finishing Modified without a roof.
Also on the racing card is the Outlaw Pure Stocks who will be racing for an increased purse. Midas Service Center of Medina, Ohio has put additional cash in the pot and the Outlaw Pure Stocks will be racing for a whooping $830 to win. While removing their roof is not required a $100 bonus will be given to the highest finishing Outlaw Pure Stock without a roof. The winner has the potential to go home with $930.The rule book will be watered down as the only rules will be as follows: we will allow 8 inch spoiler max, 3,000 lb min weight, bead lock 10 inch wheels allowed, 8 inch max tire, open steel engine, 2 or 4 barrel carburetors, GAS ONLY, bodies have to look like a pure stock, still NO BERTS or Brinns transmissions (you know racing Transmissions) unless you add the extra weight. Pit gates open at 2:00 PM, Grandstands at 3:00 PM, hot laps at 4:30 PM and racing at 6:00 PM sharp. General admissions cost $10.00, kids twelve and under are free and pit passes are $30.00.
