Carolina Clash Returns to Fayetteville Motor Speedway for the 6th Annual Carolina Clash Bash

by Marion Limbaugh
FAYETTEVILE, N.C. - The Carolina Clash's 2011 grand finale will be this Saturday Night at the Fayetteville Motor Speedway. This will be a 40 lap feature event paying $4000 to the winner. This will also be the 6th round in the JE Pistons Roush/Yates "Chase for the Championship" and will determine who will take the 2011Carolina Clash Championship honors at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Country Club at the prestigious Carolina Clash banquet.

Dennis "Rambo" Franklin holds a 45 point lead over second place contender Kenny Compton Jr. Franklin will be looking for a consistent run and will be looking to pull out at least a ninth place or better finish. Compton's misfortune last weekend cost him valuable points that will be a challenge to make up in the last remaining event.

After taking the win last Saturday at 311, Jeff Smith has closed within 29 points of second place Compton Jr. and moved ahead of Luke Roffers by 3 points. Mike Gault, in fifth, maintains a 49 point lead on sixth place Dustin Mitchell.

In the Klotz Lubricants ROY race, Travis Yow Leads the Roy of the year by a commanding margin in his first full season in a Super Late Model. Yow is currently eighth in the Chase points and challenging Scott Autry for the seventh spot. Tim Allen is ninth in chase points only 5 back. David Taylor is in tenth in chase points going into the final event. Jay Sessoms, Craig Shuffield and Chad Paxton are 11th through 13th in the Chase for the Championship. It all comes down to this weekend at Fayetteville Motor Speedway for the Chase contenders and by the end of the night the 2011 Champion will be decided.

This will be the fourth time the Clash has been to Fayetteville this season. Luke Roffers won the first two events and Scott Autry was the winner of the last event held at Fayetteville held back in August. Fayetteville has many talented local drivers that are always a threat to take the victory.

The pit gates will open at 3pm and the Grandstands gates will open at 4pm. Clash drivers meeting will be at 6pm. Drawing/Registration will open at 4:30 pm. Track Ph. # 910-233-7223 Track address: 3704 Doc, Bennett Rd. Fayetteville, NC 28304
