MALDEN SPEEDWAY RETURNS FOR THE 2012 NeSMITH CHEVROLET WRS SEASON

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Malden Speedway in Malden, MO will return for the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season. Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model Division will compete on Friday nights for both a track point fund and a National point fund that will pay $10,000 to the winner and pay back ten spots.

Malden Speedway hopes to get off to a better start for the 2012 season than they did this season after they were rained out six times in the first seven weeks of the season. Malden Speedway was rained out the first week of the season, they ran the second week of the season, and then went through five straight rainouts.

“We’re glad to have Malden Speedway back with the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series for 2012 and we look forward to working again with Promoter Phil Santie, his staff and competitors,” NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Director Roby Helm said. “We also hope Mother Nature deals Malden Speedway a better hand for 2012 than she did in 2011.”

Drivers at Malden Speedway will compete against drivers at other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series tracks through the country each weekend during a 27-week season from April 6, 2012 through October 7, 2012 through a points system. A competitor’s best 14 weekly point totals will count towards their National point total.

Driver can compete in multiple races each week with their highest single event point total counting for that week. A driver can also earn up to 100 Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points that will be added to their best 14 week point total. A driver can earn as much as 800 points that represents 14 50-point wins and 100 Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points.

Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points can be earned in two different ways. A driver can earn 25 Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points by competing in four straight events at a single track. A driver can also earn 25 Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points by competing in a NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring event during the Weekly Racing Series season.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical GM Performance Crate Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. There are two engines to choose from, the 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine that gets a 150-pound weight break.
