Hill wins 22nd Annual Grant Adcox Memorial at Cleveland Speedway

by Steve Hixson
CLEVELAND, Tenn. (October 22)  - Vic Hill of Morristown, TN wins his second consecutive Super Late Model feature Saturday night at Cleveland (TN) Speedway. Fourth starting Hill raced past former winner Shawn Chastain on lap 6 for the win. Fast Qualifier Mike Weeks faded early but would battle back to third at the checkered flag. David Payne raced to second place after running fifth for most of the feature. The nights biggest incident happened at the start of the race when rookie Dustin Cansler flipped after contact with local veteran Bobby Doss heading into turn one. The race was red-flagged but nobody was injured. Crate LM winner was Brian Pritchard (# 3) of Harrison - Limited Winner was Richard Dickson (# 3) of Cleveland - Hobby Winner was Booger Brooks (# 21) of Chattanooga - Pony Winner was Cody Campbell (# 112) of Birchwood.

Brian Pritchard of Harrison, Tennessee and his Big Red Machine thwarted the competition Saturday night at the Cleveland Speedway winning the 20 lap Crate Late Model "A" Main feature during the 22nd annual Grant Adcox Memorial event. The dominating performance started again like his May victory, from the cat-birds seat, along side Fast Qualifier Andy Pickelsimer. Trying to get the jump both FRONT ROW JOE starters were warned by flagman Chris Tilley and on attempt #3 it was all #3 as the "Ron's Car Wash, George Shaw Racing, UPS Store of Dalton, Steven Hogan Fabrication, Spangler Sheet Metal" sponsored GRT GM Performance 604 Hendren powered machine sprung to the lead. It wasn't all smooth sailing in making the trip to the KC Graphics Victory Lane as Pickelsime drew along side the leader several times to challenge. "Jason Welshan's been really good all year on hard tires, where-as we've struggled..." stated Pritchard after the races. "We made adjustments to the car and it was really good." Pritchard thanked all whom helped out the entire season from; Bud, Benny, Steven, Scotty and J.C., to Dustin and Josh and wife Shelly and daughter Meagan. Pritchard earned a $450 payday for his second win of the season. Kayne Hickman was third, while Georgia's Allen Green and Tennessee hot-shoe Jason Welshan of Maryville rounded out the Top-5 at the finish. The next race for Cleveland is the annual GOBBLER / JOE LEE JOHNSON MEMORIAL weekend Nov. 18th & 19th.
