ALBANY MOTOR SPEEDWAY JOINS GROWING LIST OF NeSMITH CHEVROLET WRS TRACKS FOR 2012

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Albany Motor Speedway in Albany, GA has joined the growing list of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series tracks for the 2012 season. Albany Motor Speedway has also scheduled two events on the 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring schedule on April 27 and April 28.

Drivers in the Crate Late Model Division at Albany Motor Speedway will now be eligible for both a track point fund and a National point fund that will pay $10,000 to the National Champion and pay back ten spots in the point standings. The 2012 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season will run from April 6 through October 7.

Albany Motor Speedway will host a pair of NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring events with a $2,000-to-win 40-lap race on Friday night, April 27 and a $2,500-to-win 50-lap race on Saturday night, April 28.

“We’re really excited about becoming a part of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series and hosting two nights of the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring racing in 2012,” Albany Motor Speedway Managing Partner Tim Carroll said. “We’ve received a very positive response from our competitors about joining the series, as they’re exciting about saving money on engines and tires in this slow economy.”

Albany Motor Speedway is the latest new track to sign on with the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series for 2012. Albany Motor Speedway joins Deep South Speedway in Loxley, AL, Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS, 441 Speedway in Dublin, GA, Modoc Speedway in Modoc, SC, Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN, and West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO as new series tracks for 2012.

“The signing of Albany Motor Speedway gives the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series a solid base in South Georgia as the series continues to expand its geographical boundaries,” NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Director Roby Helm said. “We’re looking forward to working with Tim Carroll, his staff, and competitors in 2012 at Albany Motor Speedway, and also bringing the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Tour to the track on April 27 and 28.”

Drivers at Albany Motor Speedway on Saturday nights will compete against drivers at other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series tracks throughout the country each weekend during a 27-week season from April 6, 2012 through October 7, 2012 through a points system. A competitor’s best 14 weekly point totals will count towards their National point total.

Drivers can compete in multiple races each week with their highest single event point total counting for that week. A driver can also earn up to 100 Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points that will be added to their best 14 week point total. A driver can earn as much as 800 points that represents 14 50-point wins and 100 Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points.

Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points can be earned in two different ways. A driver can earn 25 Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points by competing in four straight events at a single track. A driver can also earn 25 Weekly Racing Series Bonus Points by competing in a NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring event during the Weekly Racing Series season.
